BA Club Class - Bangkok
Can anyone at BA tell me whether there's lounge access in Bangkok for Club/Silver when at BKK for the 3.5 hours on the Friday night LHR-SYD please?
If not, any ideas what to do - within (legal) reason of course...!

A long-time neighbour and good friend works for a large European company and occassionally travels to the far east. He's gone off BA after a couple of funny experiences.
He checks in and manages to get his favourite seat upstairs, during the flight he has been asked to move....the excuses being rather lame ....something to do with serving or for his convenience or whatever; it is transparently obvious to him that it is to accommodate groups of jeans-and-Tshirt staffer upgrades in their own select little area.
He doesn't fly BA any more.
This is only hearsay, therefore classify as rumour only, but he has no reason to lie.

It´s not only hearsay, it´s total garbage! I was one of the top ´Bangkok´BA B747 specialists until earlier this year. What you describe is complete nonsense- what little ´select´areas are you talking about? The whole upper deck of a 747? Fancy upgrading of staff as you describe does not take place when full fare payers are inconvenienced. Sometimes people are moved around if there are seat defects (inflight entertainment, reclining problems) and true some staff may replace on that seat, or passengers and/or staff even upgraded to that deficient seat if there are overbooking problems in other cabins, but you are spouting rubbish and should not be allowed to say such unsubstantiated things here. Had it occured, I would have been most interested in finding out what was going on, but such manouevrings are not so easy to execute.

Have a foot reflexology session. Costs virtually nothing and the operator in the transit area is pretty good.
Relaxes no end and your foot/ankle swelling will disappear as if by magic.
(There's a better one landside, plus there's quite a good Japanese restaurant out there, too)

I have to agree with Rainboe...staff are treated like dirt on BA. If they are lucky enough to get an upgrade, invariably, they are seated on the knackered or u/s seat with the dodgy IFE. Fare paying pax always come first. However, appearances can sometimes be deceptive.
Not BA, but flying Business with Delta, I remember the CP (or whatever they call them) trying to reseat me from my window seat (with free seat next to me) to an isle seat in a fully occupied 3-seat middle row in the forward section (B767) "for my convenience". I refused. He wasn't happy and showed it. Talking to another member of the crew I learned that he was trying to section off a part of (the not full) Business Class cabin as the crew rest area!

Assuming you are flying Club World and/or are BA Silver, the answer is yes. I think that BA uses the Qantas Club - but if it doesn't and you don't like it, you can get into that as BA Silver anyway.

BA does use the Qantas Club (aka the Qantas Pub and you'll see why) in BKK. It's recently refurbished and down towards pier 5 - just turn right after passport control and keep going, the entrance way is huge and you can't miss it.

Funny that Maxy101, I came back from SA last year and all but 2 people in first class were BA staff or friends of BA staff and First class was full, Also flew to BKK and was treated awfully by BA CC and made to feel like the fact they hadnt loaded my diabetic meal was my fault! so I don't buy the BA staff getting treated badly angle, it looks to me that CC look after their own. I would say they treat their passengers worse, certainly in my case the PAX didnt come first. The FO even got involved, lord knows why, he was about as much use as a spare p***k at a wedding!

It seems that BA and QF now largely operate from the aforementioned pier near the new QF Club. If transiting at BKK, you'll be unloaded onto the lower level of the terminal. There are lots of transit signs that are intended to make you walk all the way into the central part of the terminal before (a) showing you some shops in a poor "transit area" on the lower level and (b) taking you upstairs to the departure level, tipping you out into the shopping area near outbound passport control.
However, if you look closely as soon as you get to the terminal end of the pier and start walking along inside the terminal itself, there are some poorly marked doors to small staircases that lead upstairs a long time before you reach the central area. If your only destination is the QF Club, then use one of these and look for the Club when you get up to the departure level. It could save you a long walk to the shops and back if you're not interested in doing that.

I flew out of BKK international in March and wish i'd given this a go.....
There were a couple of Oxygen Bars dotted in between the duty free. You are given one of those hospital tubes that sit in the opening to your nostrals and fed 100% oxygen, at the same time you get a fabulous back massage. I can still only image how good that would have felt!!!

The chances of getting club as staff in jean? Nil! The check-in staff and CC will (quite rightly) refuse you access.
Seems like your friend is spouting rubbish to justify his anti-BA stand.
