"free flights"

Newspapers like the Daily Mail, offer free flights to USA. Collect tokens,a nd fly for free.

These are not a trick, and for the £80 tax you do get a flight to USA, via KEF.

My question is WHY do the airlines offer these flights.

And who makes the money, or even do they make any money.

Many thanks,

Bumz

Amongst the conditions are that if you want to go with a friend/partner they need to apply separately, and may not get the same dates or destinations.

Presumably they are hoping that if you get offered different dates/destinations, you will then buy a ticket rather than taking a separate holiday. No doubt there will also be encouragements to use linked insurance and hotel deals.

Still, if you are travelling alone and can change dates/destinations to suit the airline's convenience it might be worthwhile.

Airlines very, very rarely offer flight tickets without some sort of return. Remember the old saying "No such thing as a free lunch".

I used to sponser events, newspaper/radio/tv promotions with my old airline, as it was a very cheap way of advertising. It's amazing how many winners don't or can't take the trip - for various reasons.
