Quick question. Who handles Air 2k at LGW?

Air Two Bob is now First Choice (prefixed FCA) and is handled by Aviance. Rumour has it that they are losing the contract and Servisair Globeground will shortly take over.

Thanks. That explains everything. My mother and father flew to the Dominican Republic on Sunday and apparently they had an argument at checkin because they pre-booked "extra legroom" only to find that all the "extra legroom" seats had been allocated to other people. I spoke to a freind who works for First Choice at BRS and she confirmed that they recieved the request and passed it on with the manifest. So it looks like it is an Aviance cock up (hardly supprising).

Well did the PAY for extra legroom seats or simply pre-request???
It is not allowed to allocate exit row seats to someone unless the person is in front of them as each pax at an emergency exit must be fully able bodied and therefore, the safest way to ensure this is to make sure that the person is seen at the desk by the agent before the seat is allocated!!!
Mind you....having said that I beleive Virgin are now charging extra for exit seats!!!

I work in the handling business and know how things work.

They DID pay for them through First Choice. This was confirmed by a letter from First Choice and by First Choice employees I happen to know. Neither do they fall under any CODPINE catagory.

"Legroom seats"

If pax just want the extra "legroom", they should pay - not for the "special" seats, but for F or J class!

Maybe things have changed, but it used to be the case that the "legroom seats" (ie, those beside he emergency exits) were only alocated to pax who could haul the 20 or so kilos of window out of the opening and were generally reasonably fit/capable.

At 55 years of age, I'm sure I still qualify, and also have the general safety knowledge of the aircraft (thanks to working on the "sims" at BA, and - well I remember that Britannia hostie under training, on the night before her "finals", still think of her - so you can give me the "legroom" any time).

But serioulsy, and it is serious, I'd hate to be on the flight when an emergency occurred and the fat slob (sorry - PC - weight challenged person) beside the over-wing exit couldn't get the door open, or jammed himself (PC again, or herself) through it.

What would you think if you were the check-in agent when the CAA came out with the accident report and YOU were responsible for 50 pax not being able to exit?

Emergency Exit Row seats are not a "poor man's J-Class"

On Monday last week, I checked in over the internet, printed my own boarding pass using a self service machine at T4 and then went through security and boarded into seat 11F (emergency exit row.) As I was travelling hand baggage only, I didn't use the fast bag drop.

On Tuesday last week, I repeated the process the other way and got 9F (emergency exit.)

The only contact with an airline ground agent was passport check/ticket check.

Therefore I do not think that your statement can be right - surely the seat can be allocated, but then reallocated if the ground agent (or cabin crew) have concerns that the pax is not suitable?
