Virgin Atlantic A340-600's

Which routes do VS fly the A340-600's on regularly? Is there anyway of knowing in advance which aircraft type is flying which routes?

The airline's website timetable is a good place to start - esp with an airline like VS because it has a relatively limited number of routes to search.

Is there a section of the Virgin Atlantic website which tells you which aircraft operate which routes?

There's a (quite impressive) unofficial website that has all this. Shame the proper Virgin website has one of the least informative displays of all. It wasn't that long ago the timetables failed to tell you if it was JFK or Newark a flight operated to !

The VS web site used to tell you the equ. that was planned to operate the sector but no longer does. For all their communications skills the VS web site has never been one of the best. It's current incarnation has some improvements though.

VS now flies the 600 on JFK, HKG and NRT routes daily, with SYD daily starting Dec 04.

Other routes are rotated through 340-300/600 a/c as they are available.

As the 600s arrive, so theyll cover more routes. I believe JNB is next for daily guaranteed 600.

Cheers

Thanks for the info! My friend is travelling back from JFK with VS in Jan and is apparently travelling on a A340-600 and she was complaining about it!! She prefers to travel on B747-400's!!!!

www.baa.co.uk is the best site for a/c types. Enter site, go to Heathrow, then flight information and then timetable. It displays all the airlines flying to your selected destination.

Thumbs up

Phil,

Your friend must be on the VS10 - LHR, if she wants to change to any of the other 4 daily flights from New York - London she'll be on a Boeing.

I can't understand her attitude though, from a passenger point of view you are FAR better off on the -600!

I have tried explaining this to her but for some reason she thinks the Boeing 747-400 is the best and does not like Airbus aircraft in any shape or form for no apparent reason!! lol
