Bye Bye easyJet

Well at least for me.

My last two flights from EDI to STN have had 1h30m and 3h20m delays due to tech equipment and knock on effects..... the flight is only 1hr duration.

Couldn't face a 23h00 departure yesterday, compared to 19h40 schedule (had worked pretty hard Mon-Thurs and was kn@ckered) and paid £125 for a hotel room and meal, of course no chance of easy helping with this and I knew that when I bought the flight.

But I don't intend to go for the hat trick and will be flying BA from now on.

To add insult to injury, the cost of the easy fare (£140) and the hotel made this experience as expensive as the worst excesses of Air UK back in the early 90s.

That now adds the UK to Europe as regions where I will not fly easyJet, after they cancelled a flight on me and left me in Spain with few options.

Yes, they can do it legally, but no I won't put up with it.

Im sorry to hear that, but not surprised. The Late Stn is almost guarenteed to be late. The crew, and the entire EDI base has pleaded with the management to either re-schedule the time of the STN flight to ensure that the a/c coming in from AMS will arrive on time, send the morning EDI-AMS-NCE flight out earlier in the morning so that it will arrive back earlier or give us another aircraft on which to do the late STN flights.

Of course this has not happend and on the days that we have to land in AMS and have to taxi in from the runway that is literally miles from the terminal adds on 20/25mins on each sector which is not incorporated in the scheduling for the a/c.

But from the 1st of Nov we will no longer be doing the Ams Nce out of Edi hopefully meaning that the late Stns will finally run on time, but for your self, the many other pax and crew this is a solution too late for many.

Hope things work out better for you with ba

EB

It's nothing personal against the crew, always had good and pleasant service.

And I think that the new AMS runway taxi time is a disgrace - its like landing at Slotterdijk, a southern suburb of the city.

Eh? What was wrong with Air UK? (OK, so it was a tad expensive, but I wasn't paying so who cares?)

LOL!!

Dont worry none taken, It just lets everyone down, poor service all around esp when we could both be home checkin pprune! Why do management never learn?

AMS has to be the only airport were you pass two time zones on the way to the terminal and its surprising we dont have to stop half way to clear customs!

Take care!

You obviously didn't live through the ongoing agnst concerning the removal of baked beans from the breakfast! Letters of protest from the pax lead to an article in the inflite magazine (by Jeremy Dixon, if I recall correctly) defending the withdrawal.

It rumbled on for nearly a year

If you want to bask in the post hoc glow of the family tree, think back to Air Anglia and their F28s ... now that was a good little service.

I wouldn't be expecting too much with BA lately. I have taken 16 flights LHR-GLA-LHR so far this year and have another 4 coming up later this month. The GLA-LHR is always on a friday night. Out of those 16, only 2 have been on time. The other 14, ranging from 30mins to 2 hours late. Of course, I can't comment on EDI-LHR

I fly LHR-ABZ-LHR a lot more than is good for me, and work on about a 50% chance of being delayed. Even when they get to LHR on time, about 20% are taken to T2 which results in even longer delays as we have to be bussed back to T1

Talking

With 40' flight time between CDG and AMS, it almost takes longer to taxi the 8 Km of the AMS runway!

In my experience EZY seem to be no worse than BD, BA or BE. Over the last year I did a lot of SOU-EDI-SOU flights with BA and BE. Hardly a week went by without something going wrong. I was put up overnight in SOU on three occasions. Returned home to Poole on another. Suffered long delays. Was diverted to BHX. Had a flight cancelled due to fog at EDI.
