ThomsonFly out of Coventry

Hi guys and Gals

Just managed to book some seats from CVT to VLC at £28 each on a Sat in May.

Looking at the website it is possible to travel from CVT to Jersey for £0.99 each way during the Easter Holidays.

Just wondered (1) what CVT was like and (2) what ThomsonFly was like?

Any ThomsonFly people on here?

Anyone have any views/experience. I understand that previously they operated as Britannia Airways and that Thomson have now bought CVT

Bletchley:

This cannot be answered yet as the first Thomsonfly flight is not until 31 March, and there have been no previous scheduled passenger operations from Coventry.

There has been a lot of discussion but also uncertainty about the terminal arrangements and one gets the feeling there is still a lot of work to do in the last week before opening. It will be for the time being in "demountable" buildings, which is a posh way of saying "Portakabin". There have been significant arguments over planning permission and some recent construction work has had to be dismantled because of this. This is what led to TUI buying Coventry Airport from the previous owners.

The relationship with Britannia Airways and Thomson Holidays is arms length. All are owned by TUI, a German-based holiday conglomerate. The Thomsonfly aircraft livery is similar to the new Britannia one, basd on the TUI group standard. The aircraft are not ex-Britannia but have been obtained separately. Britannia Airways continue to operate their holiday flights as before.

And watch out for invasion of council planning enforcement officers on April 1st (not kidding)

Think you might find that either you'll flying from coventry west terminal (12 miles up the A45 towards birmingham) or that youll have your £28 quietly refunded.
