Talking Do Boeing 747's have keys?

Hi. I'm just curious as to whether large commercial jets such as the Boeing 747 or Airbus A320, for example, have keys. Is there a key for the door or a key to start the engines? Or is it simply a case of pushing a large, red button?

Thanks in advance.

They used to have keys to the door to get into the flight deck, but nowdays the flight deck doors have generally been replaced with high security ones that use a pass code.

The external doors do not have keys and there are several 'red buttons' to push to start the engines

Boeings used tol hand over a key when a new a/c was collected from one of their airfields. I do not know what it opens though or if it is still the case mind not that many people collecting new Boeings.

I picked up a Boeing last month in Everett and they did give us a set of "keys".

They were symbolic, unlike the 3 boxes+ of legal papers!

pain that you can't lock a 747, I never trust people when I leave mine parked up at the stand for a few days so I put a padlocks on the doors.

I have to say that I have my own set of sterling silver Boeing keys for one of the 737's that I 'repped'.Very nice indeed!
