Signature?

Last Friday evening (19 Sep) the B154 failed to depart from BRU to LHR because of a "missing signature" !
According to Captain Speaking the paperwork was not complete even though he admitted the ac had already flow a leg without this signature!
There was much to-ing and fro-ing of aircrew before it was finally announced that the ac was not going anywhere and those passengers with hand baggage only could disembark and bid for one of the 45 empty seats on BD156 departing at 21:15. Those unfortunate enough to have baggage in the hold would have to wait for an empty ac to be flown in (plus 2 hours) before they could get to LHR. There would not be time to unload and reload baggage from 154 to 156.
What could this mysterious signature be?

Usual signatures involved are;

Maintenance for the tech log
Dispatch for the loadsheet
Captain's counter signature on both of above.

Wouldn't have been the Captain's signature missing. A loadsheet is issued for every sector, so that wouldn't be the case either.
Maintenance release from home base?
