For the others - I'm a terminal control guy - ADC, approach procedural (done for real in Scotland for a few years) and approach radar. I've done "open FIR" stuff, training airfields, mil & some int'l airport. Where would they want to send me with that lot?
TOPS or WEST - you're a cert!

OK, call me thick but what are TOPS & WEST?

They are both enroute sectors one of which lives in the Brisbane Centre and the other in the Melbourne Centre.
It all began one cloudy day after transitioning to TAAATS and some bright spark decided we all needed to have new names for the new building so we all got new names for the enroute sectors etc. :ok:
Rather than the dreary old Sector One or Arrivals etc we gained such extravagant names as TOPS (top end of Oz as they look after the airspace around Darwin etc), Reef (looks after the airspace around Cairns etc) Bass (looks after the fish :hmm: er no I mean looks after the airspace around Hobart), Todd (looks after the dry creek bed around Alice and the rock) and Moreton which is the Brisbane approach unit.
Get the picture? :)
