That sounds like a no...

Oh, there will be meetings and lots of emails. The sad bit is that they will convert AOPA from being a hard hittting, vigorous, industry advocate into an apologist for CASA and the Minister.

AOPA want the membership but remain silent post summit. What are the benefits of membership again?

OZBUSDRIVER 7th Oct 2018 01:29

No news and half way through a by-election cycle in a crucial Wentworth. Not good at politics, are we?

If Barnaby makes a comeback, are all bets off?

Must admit, I too joined AOPA in sudden burst of enthusiasm for what I though was a bona-fide attempt at setting things to rights.
There should be some communication or update from the executive regards what was agreed as the forward plan..

I can't speak for the AOPA board but a few observations:

It is my understanding that there was a lot of progress made with St Barnabas in January this year and that it had bi-partisan support from Albo. Obviously, events overtook that work and McCormack MP is a bit less colourful than his predecessor.
CASA has maintained to successive Ministers that the GA sector would never be able to unite and agree on anything. Pollies hate making changes that leave them open to attack so of course they will never make changes that will leave them open to criticism, especially when the "All-about-safety-regulator" recommended against it.
Wagga's sole purpose was to demonstrate to the Minister and the Department weenies that yes, actually, the Industry CAN unite and the industry WILL unite.
Much effort now is going into building relationships with Albo and the cross-bench because there's not much point wasting time on the Coalition government, that's for sure.
