An update for the masses... Port Lincoln's first camera has now come online (will be straightened up shortly) and George Town Tasmania has a second camera now up and running which faces the wind sock. Stay tuned for Portland and Tocumwal which should be online over the next week or two! YTOO in WA will be arriving too hopefully within a week. As always, please let us know if there's somewhere you'd like to see online and we will do what we can to get them on board. Weather Cameras |
We have just had another camera come online which is at Milawa - Home of the Famous Brown Brothers Winery, thanks to a generous donor.
It's across the road looking towards the strip and the trees that you can see on the left, are the ones that you overfly to land there. Weather Cameras I've also added the 4 at Tocumwal, however they aren't properly mounted yet and aren't up in the EFB's yet. Leongatha's should appear within the next few days, the host is just sorting out a mounting bracket for the best view. |
Now for a long weekend update... Flinders Island / Whitemark, has just come online today, with many thanks to the Whitemark ARO and the Flinders Island Council. This one is sure to be very popular. Weather Cameras |
A beautiful winters morning at Wangaratta today...

Thanks to a private donor, there is now a camera at Lakes Entrance Victoria, looking to the west towards the grass strip - YLKE.
Check it out... http://auswebcams.com |
Thank you to Squawk7700 we now have Heck Field at Jacobs Well (QLD) - (Halfway between Brisbane Airport and the Gold Coast Airport) online and operational. Thanks for all your help!
Weather Cameras |
Two more cameras have been added at Tooradin (although there is an internet problem there at the moment) and Tyabb's existing camera has been added too. Those 3 and those above from Heck Field will be coming to your chosen EFB very soon. |
The Yarrawonga cam does not seem to have a date/time stamp. Not sure I would trust it without that. |

As the images come from so many different sources that are managed by different providers, we are looking to implement a system at EFB level that checks if the file uploaded is the same as the last one and if so, then it won't be displayed and a message about the image being offline will be shown. |

That is because it was temporarily offline and displaying the offline image which is a picture of the airport entrance sign. As the images come from so many different sources that are managed by different providers, we are looking to implement a system at EFB level that checks if the file uploaded is the same as the last one and if so, then it won't be displayed and a message about the image being offline will be shown. That would be good, as this am Yarrawonga showed a missleading picture of good weather with a disclaimer “not to be used for flight planning”, but such disclaimers can be used sometimes on a valid image. Would be preferable to show no weather image if it is not current. |
I should add though, that the EFB's do not display alternate images. What you saw is the public images on the website. E.g. Tocumwal's images are of the floor and roof in a building. These are not certified to display in the EFB's. |

That is something beyond the control of the website that I will work with the EFB's to resolve should it occur. |
Sorry to put it all back on you. I realise it is unfair, but hope the feedback is welcome. |
All feedback is welcome, both positive and negative. |
Just a question Squawk, would it be possible to run a loop of images?
Could be handy for areas that have fast changing weather (tropics). |
We hadn't got around to it yet on the site because the EFB's do it automatically for us. Let's just say it's "on the list." |
The sunset of the week award goes to Bridport in Tasmania.
Just now we have had 2 new cameras come on-line at Holbrook and 3 at Tocumwal (the 4th one is awaiting a replacement power supply). So in summary this weekend: 2 additional at Tooradin 1 at Tyabb 2 at Heck Field Qld 3 at Tocumwal 2 at Holbrook Enjoy! https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.gmf...d40ceed443.jpg |
Leongatha's cameras have now come on-line with many thanks to Woorayl Air Services. Woorayl are best known to ppruners for their AgWork and Low Level endorsements and flying training.

It's been a while since I posted an update... Lethbridge has added an additional 2 cameras. Portland has just come online with many thanks to the local council / aerodrome operator for assisting with those. They are in the final stages of alignment will will be appearing in your favourite EFB soon. Weather Cameras Temora Aviation Museum should be online within the next week too which will be great for those who can't make it to the Warbirds Downunder event later this year. We will also see the addition in the next week of Moruya NSW and also a lovely little private strip in the Huon Valley of southern Tasmania. |
They say things happen in 3's.... Portland, Moruya and "Windrush" in the Huon valley are now all up and running and coming to your favourite EFB soon, so 7 cameras added today. http://auswebcams.com/YMOR http://auswebcams.com/YPOD http://auswebcams.com/Windrush |
One of the best safety initiatives. Great work 7700. |
|
Squawky, you absolute legend! Doing the work that CASA or Airservices should be doing, and for no personal gain. What a great initiative. Shame about the lack of interest from our own agencies to expand their networks.
|
Colac are now also online. Enjoy! Weather Cameras (Thanks Magnum) Re Magnums comments above, I did hear second hand that Mildura are pending for the installation of BOM cameras so it appears that they are still happening. I have not heard of any others to date, but that being said I don't often talk to the operators of the larger airports, so am unlikley to hear much about them. I would like some at Essendon if anyone has any suggestions on where to host them. I've already come up blank with Amber, Pearson and GAM. |
I am currently in need of someone to install a power point at Lord Howe Island... all suggestions welcome!!! They don't have electricians over there. |
Forbes now have 3 cameras online (with direction stamps pending). Coming to an EFB near you soon. Lots more to come subject to the weather gods... who wants to climb a ladder during this weekend weather ! Enjoy. Weather Cameras |
|
Barwon Heads in Victoria is now online! Lots of action right now happening on the Temora timelapse (getting ready for the weekend) check in Avplan and Ozrunways for yourselves.... |
Lots happening on the Temora cameras right now.
Weather Cameras Spitfire, Boomerang and more...... for the Fathers Day weekend event. |
Cobden in Victoria has now just come online.
Coming to an EFB near you very soon. Enjoy! Weather Cameras |
Cobden, teething problems; they are down for now by the look of it.
|
Just a Telstra issue. I’m learning a lot about Telstra at the moment. |
Nice work - Can I suggest it's a good idea to have the title at the top of an airport webcam page load the index page of the website? If I follow that link in post 111 to Cobden, there is no link on the Cobden to click on to go up to the main page. I have to go to the index bar and truncate the url. First world problems, I know.
|
Thanks for the comments CS. I’ll keep that in mind when I update the page soon. |
Weather Cameras Naracoorte in SA are now online. Enjoy! We have got good coverage in western Vic now to SA, but there’s always room for more, so I’m open to suggestions as to new locations. |
Warrnambool camera pointing seems less than optimal - not useless for weather but could be better if more sky visible. Thanks for all your efforts and work getting these cams up. |
That ones a rain camera... you look on the ground to see if it’s wet :-) I have asked for the owners to sort that out. |
|
Temora now have a third camera, facing east. 4 new cameras arriving in northern Tasmania in the next few weeks too. http://auswebcams.com/YTEM |
