So what's happening at Mangalore?

Does anyone know what is happening at MFTA?

I have heard operations suspended but not why or how long for.

Dropped in there today, some aircraft all tied down, like a ghost town, I'm tipping there's 2 very anxious maintenance facilities very concerned. Most of the training aircraft belong to two seperate businesses. The ARO manager suggested after much administration issues and non compliance with the nice CASA man they pulled the aoc. Much safer circuit environment, not a blurred message to be heard ! Will be 20 or so PA28's going very cheap..

I had some friends that worked up there that I met out at Moorabbin. Nice guys although, they have all moved on recently. They always said they enjoyed the flying but the management was horrendous. They all couldn't wait to leave to get away from one or two individuals in particular. But they used to do a lot of flying so, I guess it was worth it. Such a shame to see people loose their jobs. I hope all the instructors can find somewhere else to utilise their skils.

I know the HPAT (Kingair) program at MFTA was world class

Ozgrade3 29th May 2017 05:23

I also hear the HPAT Ground School lecturer was outstanding too:p

Another of CASA's famous 5pm Friday faxes?

I am led to believe the victim of a personal health issue for the key person.

So,with over 100 students the Chinese Airline will have to cough up some money and keep it going surely? Another operator will step in surely?

thorn bird 30th May 2017 07:51

I would imagine the Chinese Airline would be cursing the day it ever got involved in aviation in Australia and be frantically working on the logistics of moving their training to Canada or New Zealand as China Southern did.

Aviation Regulation in this country is beyond a sick joke.
and don't call me Shirley!!

The airline is China Southern isn't it?

Have been reliably told that after an early morning repeat visit from the regulator there were some non compliance issue still outstanding, students re fuelling planes un supervised, amoungst other issues. Shortly after the boss lady arrived it got ugly, she couldn't cope with them and informed them she was heading off for a stress related break. With no apparent officer in place they removed the AOC, then and there.

Ahhhh, the old 'key personnel' chestnut. Astronauts are a bit hard to come by these days, give it a few years there'll be no 'key personnel' left. Mission accomplished :ok:

Students can't refuel aircraft any more?

Kulwin Park 30th May 2017 21:14

I think once you're solo rated, you can refuel aeroplanes by yourself, as you have command experience right. There is a liability insurance rule about it somewhere. Instructors can tell you about it.

Sunfish 30th May 2017 21:21

Kulwin, how can you perform a solo navex if you can't refuel? Send an instructor in a taxi to your destination to do it for you?

IFEZ 30th May 2017 23:45

Don't forget the MOST important thing when refuelling...

Make sure you are wearing a Hi-Vis vest.

Oh, and safety goggles.

And gloves.

And any other ridiculous, over-the-top safety precaution that can be applied.

:ugh:
