Me to. When I last caught a train from Mascot to the city I could see the driver playing a game that looked like candy crush on his iPad that was on the consol. Pretty terrible really.

As a retired Locomotive/Train driver I don't know how he found time to do that.

As an aside, at one of my annual medicals the Doctor told me that it was the same medical as an Airline Pilot.:)

DAME or GP?

Don't know if he was a DAME or not but appropriately qualified to undertake our medical examinations.

I wouldn't have a clue what is involved with driving a train but I'm certainly not making it up.
As for the medical I would have thought a train drivers should be more thorough considering there is no human redundancy ( read first officer).

Learning plateau
 

It could just be that your experiencing nothing more than a learning plateau that most students will experience during their training.

It is a long and arduous road. It could be that the student instructor relationship isn't ideal, and that's no reflection on the Instructor. Hopefully your instructor is a mentor and someone who motivates and inspires you. If that's an option perhaps chat to your instructor and/or CFI, to see if you can come up with a better match.

It could be that a change of instructor could reinvigorate the process.

Consider spending more time in the school. I know when I was training and shooting in and out of the school for lessons I didn't get the opportunity to fit into the company culture and environment as well as I did when I was there more intensively and able to share my experiences with staff and students.
