Could someone please translate into simple English?

megle2 31st Mar 2017 21:53

Could be a PA31 stuck ( bogged ) or a PA31 " struck " by a wayward golf ball

BULLDOG 248 31st Mar 2017 21:58

Was told late last night a Conquest on or near a golf course in Tassie with bent nose wheel and props. Just trying to join the dots!!!!

PA31
Bad.

Conquest
Good!

Expensive, but it'll buff out. Woulda been cheaper if it was a chieftain, bloggsie.

Why is it the " good " aircraft seem to come to grief while the old Chieftains just keep ploughing along

Capn Bloggs 1st Apr 2017 05:16

To clarify, I certainly wasn't making light of the fact that a Conquest had pranged, only the aircraft names/type designators being made fun-of on another thread.

Capt Fathom 1st Apr 2017 05:20

That is definitely out of bounds! :oh:

Bit more than a two stroke penalty there, I'm afraid!:=

or a PA31 " struck " by a wayward golf ball
Got hit by a mis-struck Golf ball when landing a Robin DR400 Glider Tug at a Gliding Club next to a Public Golf course in Hokkaido a number of years ago.

Caused a great deal of mirth in a few places!:D

BULLDOG 248 1st Apr 2017 10:03

Guess they won't be flying in 2 new props and some 100mph tape to fly her out!!!!! Anyone know the rego?? I remember seeing a similar paint job up north, but with 3 blades.

Duck Pilot 1st Apr 2017 11:34

Recovery cost down there will be painful.

If it's on the runway, the surface looks terrible.

I don't know about "old Chieftains just ploughing along" - but that Conquest has sure been doing it's fair share of ploughing, in the last couple of hundred feet. :)

The new strip at Barnbougle "Lost Farm" ain't as good as the old one at BB Dunes. Last time I took a Conquest in there I could feel the nosewheel digging in here and there and C402/404/441 have a bit of a weakness in the nosewheel dept if you bog it...

But more importantly, the bar is much better at Lost Farm!

I prefer the Dunes!
