Pax in the cockpit of an International flight
Quick question, can the tech crew allow passengers to visit the cockpit of RPT flights?
Closed charters I hear is OK, but normal every day pax airline flights ex AUS? Cheers |
I would say it depends on the Airline, but as a general rule the answer is NO (especially for the Australian based airlines).
Generally I think you have to be working for the airline. Then it's up to the Captain.
Although if the flight overflies US (Guam etc) airspace then only tech crew can be in the flight deck. |
No no and .......no
Sorry |
There is a bit of nuance to this.
Visit? No. Jump seat ride for staff of the airline concerned? Depends on the destination. Flight to US? No. Most other places ex Australia? Yes. |
Not at my company!
Short answer No. Ferry flights possibly.
I'd say domestic only and perhaps international if it was freight or charter.
Ok wow thanks all for the replies, much appreciated.
Yes again depends on the Airline, mine doesn't allow it at all
Air NZ are allowed anyone on the J/S as long as they are known to the flight crew :ok:
Malaysian, Cathay, Singapore, Aer Lingus....to name a few that allow family members in the flight deck.
...immediate family members, that is. Children, spouse, parents only. No 'companions', siblings or second cousins once removed. And bona fide Company employees.
Previous airline…you are The Captain, you decide who sits in the flight deck…fairly sensible really, you wouldn't be inviting the local ISIS head-bummer to join you...
Yeah but we know better here in Australia. We invented flying you know.
