Pretty good effort by the pilot and by ATC

Good work that man. :ok:

Not taking anything away from the magnificent job this guy did, but the King Air is the most pleasant and docile landing aircraft I have experienced. Thankfully it was a King Air and not some other difficult handling/landing type.

Pilot was cool as a cucumber given the circumstances. Excellent effort all round.:ok::ok::ok::D:D:D

AvEnthusiast 20th Apr 2009 13:18

Nice. So, is this guy now type rated on BE20?

Runaway Gun 20th Apr 2009 19:02

Type rated?

Not yet, but imagine the kerfuffle when he contacts a flying school stating "I only need to learn the takeoff - don't bother about the landings..." ;)

I love the bit where he reckons he's going to try something a bit more complex, like a Bonanza!

Needs to improve his radio phraseology

ciscodiscocisco 21st Apr 2009 08:19

lol.... that actually shows that you need to be a genious to fly any monkey can land an aeroplane.

AvEnthusiast 21st Apr 2009 12:17

I didn't find anything wrong in his phraseology. despite being in that condition (emergency and not used to flying that machine)he was still using standard methods.

Darkhorse001 21st Apr 2009 12:22

Reckon he'll log it ?:}

Maybe as "ICUS" :ugh:*

*Yes I do understand you need to be endorsed on type for it to count to ICUS.

The controller also did a fantastic job. :ok: Not overloading the pilot and giving him just the critical information to fly the aircraft. I wonder if there were a lot of people bellowing in his ear to "say this" - "tell him that" etc. Any controllers care to elaborate on what the protocols are in this scenario?

ZEEBEE 22nd Apr 2009 01:19

Sad to hear about the demise of the pilot though:{

I've always thought that without any complications, the Kingy is much easier to land than any 172 I've flown.

Good job all nonetheless.
