J* Australia

Well given the latest recruitment email from J*, making it clear those under the J* NZ AOC cannot transfer to the Australian J*, and that you are employed under NZ employment law/terms (aka J* will pay you less, and yes thats pilots too), exactly how do you apply to the Australian side of J*??

Mr. Hat 20th Jan 2009 22:00

Any word on TC's?

Spinner69 20th Jan 2009 22:03

Anybody have the link to the ad on the NZ Herald website? Cant seem to access it...

Q300 20th Jan 2009 23:39

Ah yes, once again NZers or rather those who will be operated on the NZ AOC get the short end of the stick Ts and Cs wise. Same with Pacific Blue and I think JetConnect. Oh well .

I remember J* took a full front page advertisement in the Herald last year... wonder how much that set them back? As for current job ads, I can't find it either.

And they'll all be crawling over each other like the seagulls in finding Nemo chanting "mine mine mine"

Your all over these pages like a rash arent you? You never have anything of substance to say, nothing of any worth to post.....Oh I forgot, you think, therefore you are........... Your last dig at NZers, isnt that a bit rich, dont you think, when you consider you have VB, J*, tiger et al? :D:yuk:

Nice work:ok:

Q300 21st Jan 2009 01:50

Aviation jobs are few and far between in NZ really. Air NZ can be a tough nut to crack and aside from them, there's really on Pacific Blue and JetConnect. The other options are the much lower paying GA and charter type ops like Vincent or the Skydiving guys or the air safari guys or instructing. You get the picture.

I know it's similar in a lot of places, hour building and such, but the aviation community in NZ seems to be particularly tight knit. More often than not, it's a case of who you know not what you know or even what you've done.

Gotta take what you're given really, especially after paying for your licenses, ratings, medicals, etc. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

For years Australians have tried to get decent wages and conditions...a fair days pay for a fair days work...only to get eroded by NZ operators and NZ crew willing to work for allot less. Shame really.

Have another look Sam. I'm not seeing much Kiwi heritage here. Tell me again whos flying round in whos country offering sh1t wages? Three of these are domestic in Aussie and none of them are Kiwi.:yuk:

OTH, 3 of these, very shortly to become 4 are flying to or within NZ. Again, none of them Kiwi:yuk::yuk:

Q300 21st Jan 2009 03:44

Yeah you sure about that Sam? I can't recall a case like you describe.

NoseGear 21st Jan 2009 04:27

Sheesh

Thats right Sam, blame someone else.....once again....VB, J*, tiger, Qlink....and to go a bit further afield, the DEFOs joining CX on cheap conditions....rather makes a mockery of your trite argument. :D:hmm:

Capt_CheeseDick 21st Jan 2009 08:12

Would be nice if you Kiwi floggas (the ones accepting any ol'****e for a step up, just because "the NZ industry is tight") stood together like your girlfriends (sheep) in your union to come up close to some sort of world standard T&C's like the rest of the world (& Air Nelson:D)!

You're just to easy to wind up :D

Some of my best flying mates are Kiwis, if you crossed the pond to the mainland and worked over here you'd understand the comradery. Just make sure you get your medicare card and centrelink forms on arrival in your first port :E

The flying culture in NZ is appalling, guys back stabbing each other, bitter, twisted, working for wages that are a joke. They come here with the same attitude but soon go troppo and turn into good blokes!

So get off your high horse and take my posts on the kiwis for what they are!

myturn 21st Jan 2009 08:25

You have to agree with the Green Goblin on this one. NZ s full of hard done by, under worked, inexperienced toss pots. Just read the Air NSN thread. At least in OZ the guys have done a bit of decent GA time before they become toss pots.

framer 21st Jan 2009 08:54

Geeeez give our mates across the ditch a break would ya!
They have a different aviation industry over there, not as many remote towns, and not as far between them. A much lower average wage across all industries, not just aviation. I have flown quite a bit with kiwi crew and they are, much like Ausi's, mostly good blokes with the odd tosser thrown in.
There are more Ausi's flying around there now than ever before and more Ausi jet operators there than Kiwi ones. How often do you hear the Kiwis crying about that? I never have.
One thing that irks me here in Aus is how much time we dedicate to talking/moaning about terms and conditions. We're at risk of surpassing the poms in the whinging stakes I reckon.
Framer....out.

VIRGA 21st Jan 2009 09:36

Framer the poms dont whinge anymore. They are so akin to taking up the.. that its become an acceptance. Over here they pay for the right to breath.

Hi @ll,
so what is the chance of getting a solid & serious information package on J* NZ please?:E
cheers!

DeltaT 21st Jan 2009 10:55

Thats what we would all like to know, the reality is the information from J* says you will find out in the interview.

Looks like I can answer my original question having looked at the updated internet application re nz/auz J*. The NZ side is Auckland base only, so to get Auz conditions change your base preferences! -However they say Auz is not hiring ;-(

What happens to the pilots down in Christchurch? They weren't all Australians were they?

Green Goblin,

and, myturn,

NZ s full of hard done by, under worked, inexperienced toss pots.
I must say, as an Australian that trained in NZ, worked there for 2 years, and then moved to Australia, that I have experienced just the opposite, and it was a bloody shock, too.

Oh, this is about everything except the joke wages in NZ.... agree completely with that!!

Bizjets 21st Jan 2009 19:55

Okayyy, let's rephrase maybe...

[...] exactly how do you apply to the NZ side of J*?? :ok:
