Tindal Wobblies...
Whats the story ?
Tindal still closed to Aero Med because of wallabies at night? Hear they using a helo at $9000 an hour? :uhoh: FA18s cant be scrambled at night? :hmm: |
The tindal crew gets flown to darwin on there duty days and back on there days off. And fly out off darwin also at night. Last I heared anyway and that was not very long ago.
You wouldnt want to shoot those wallibies not would we, that be creul and all.:ugh: Not to mention to easy to get rid off a problem. Don't they fly the F18's at night? If anyone wanted to invade ozzie you would do it in the weekend or on public holydays anyway. Tindal goes pretty quiet on friday avos and don't seem to become active till midday's on monday.. And thats good for the wallybies, gives them a few days uniterupted sleep during the day time:D |
Well SOMETHING got rid of the little fellas on East point reserve.Nobody knows what...
Was hundreds now not a one :{ |
Where's the spell check button? :ugh::ugh:
|
Me syntax is sh!thouse I know, but me spelling usually ok
|
Atlas if that was meant for me, well the button fell off.
If you want to have a go at my spelling you have to goet in line mate:ok: I recently worked off a aerodrome were there was a bit off a roo problem. they build a fence but locked a few in:ugh: Than on an quiet afternoon the local mustering pilot and his roo shooting mate got rid off the problem:D |
gadude
Please I beg of you send these mates of yours to YCAB. They could have fun for a couple of days, and maybe half an hour at YRED too!:ok: Are they any good with Ibis? J |
Hear they using a helo at $9000 an hour? they could send the s-92 instead! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.... |
Ah come on 'jaba' what's the harm in a bit of wild life to dodge? Give 'em a sporting chance mate:ok: We are after all in their territory especially when airborne:-):)
'AS' the 'dude' loves to show his prowess in spelling & grammar, every time I read one of his posts it makes me feel better for not having gone too far in school:) CW |
Capt, it now makes me feel better that I make you feel better about yourself:ok:
|
Ok 'dude' when next I don't feel too flash I'll re read yr post, tnxs:ok:
CW:) |
The RAAF are not doing much apart from the occassional shoot, seems more of a PR exercise than pest control.
They plan to put a wallaby fence up inside the main security fence to stop the things bouncing around on the rwy. Problem is, there will be great holes in it where the taxiways are! That will work......not The RAAF have guns, the contractors have guns. The numbers have increased from 800 - 1000 initially to what is now 1700 odd. The captive breeding program is going quite well! |
5/7 RAR, 2 CAV, "exercise".... Job done. :E The Tigers are due for a "gun" campaign as well I believe...
Duck season, wallaby season, duck season FIRE! :uhoh: |
.
When i was up there (1yr ago) they did shoot 400 of them which was keep hush but still not enough.
This happened after the the Pearl King Air struck one of them on one of the main legs near VR and con't to Darwin. On landing that Main legs drag linkage was damaged and the leg rotated rearwards from vertical.......put it out of the air for a few months. They did have another strike on the nose wheel prior to that also. So thats why they pull out of Tindal at the time. I had a few near misses all at night, they were all over the taxiways, runway running left ,right and centre when they heard an engine/s. |
To clarify,
The medivac a/c was hitting wobblies almost every second night, the damage and subsequent emergency LDG were the last draw as far as the drivers were concerned. |
This is a job for dat "Wallaby Whisperer" http://www.augk18.dsl.pipex.com/Smileys/cannibal.gif
|
What?...use a silencer:E
|
|
They need "drover"
They need "drover" there to herd al the wallabies out of the fenced area. He only needs about six people, and a few days.
But of coures they would first have to spend about two years and many millions of dollars developing a srategic, cost effective, wallaby friendly, and RAAF friendly plan and make sure the RAAF can get some new aircraft out of it. |
10-80 carrot drop ... http://www.augk18.dsl.pipex.com/Smileys/death3.gifall gone....
|
Nahh Tinny, Much better to apply rule 22-250! Or even old rule 303/250 if still in use. (Mine is anyway.)
|
They need to call 185Skywagon and get him to drop some of his finest fodder off! :}
That should do the job! J:ok: |
Bring the rain:ok:

How can we win the War on Terror, if we can't win the War on Wobblies? Dr :8 |
Wallabies invade the airport after 5pm on Monday to Thursdays and after 4pm on Fridays and on Weekends and Public Holidays!
300 |
Next time im there ill take the 12 gauge. Spray some SSG Buckshots amongst them while there all sitting down. That'll knock off 4 or 5 at once!

The top end is not what it used to be.
Aeromed is a farce, the Henderson government a joke Kangaroos wont let aircraft operate on a prime MILITARY airstrip at night BOOHOO :{( Any you aggressive military bastards up north take note) The pants wetting useless cnuts should SHOOT the fcuken things. In the old days of the CLP, Mick Palmer would have gone down and got on the piss for a day or two, then out to the strip and HEADBUTTED the dopey fcuking things, as well as any huggy fluffs hanging around Christ, I cant think of one pollie that would have STRANGLED the bastard things with a woosy ABC reporters microphone cord This place is fcuked |
tinpis
Don't hold back mate, tell us what you really think. Blackhand |
Not many people seem to have been to Tindal at night before. Never mind the Roos, there are chickens on the strip every night, in groups of up to five, that stand up to 4 feet tall.
They jump up in fright, and pass through the compressor. No fence will stop them cause they fliy. http://www.robhealey.com.au/Mothol07/Images/Curlew.jpg |
Must be the chain around the leg that does all the damage as they fly through the compressor.. the chicken looks rather soft and cute...
Ah.. - the old Rule 303/25, and the M17 action loaded loud was stern stuff in days gone by. It was Rule 303 that put The Breaker away over 100 years ago, but would be overkill in this situation. |
It's truly a frustrating thing - almost as frustrating as Tinny NOT issuing a "don't drink coffee while reading this post" alert ..
onya buddy |
Does wonders to the nose gear assembly too!
|
The pants wetting useless cnuts should SHOOT the fcuken things.
Tinny is absolutely correct, again!
|
Ah.. - the old Rule 303/25, and the M17 action |
Remember when I was working as a Ringer on Camfield in my pre-flying days, that the 25 was alright on donkeys, but ran out of handloads later when I was trying to bag a buffalo at Humpty Doo after I had made an old bull mad - so would have preferred a more scientific approach and more spare full load ammo then... Had to slink back to the EH ute and set up and load some more shells.. never did get him.
After leaving Camfield another two young ringers and self went via Kunnunurra and Derby and back up to Darwin for a looksee. The cheques ran out so one ringer and I worked in the coldroom at the meatworks in December and we all camped at the end of the airport. Were woken up each morning as the Sabres of the Black Panther squadron took off. One guy and self made it back home in my ute with an empty tank and 10 bob in my pocket for Christmas. We had left Skull (shaved head), behind in Fanny Bay jail after he had taken a car for a joyride without his car yard bosses permission. |
15 Million dollars of security fence and a camera on every corner.
Milatry police in big hats and even bigger attitudes. Yes the captive breeding program is going well. YES SIR NO SIR.? Works the same for Ci tair Still dosen,t beat VRD after the rain. Couple of rednecks there went and spent a night on the strip. 280.!! I know nothsink. Camp dogs at Yarrallin lookin fine now brother. M |
aeromed is a farce
tinpis....... I'll call you on that one. You've posted wisely many times. I've observed without comment. Not this time. Aeromed as you call it (NTAMS to those concerned) is NOT a farce. A bunch of dedicated guy's trying to do the best with what they're equipped with. Give them a break and let them get on with it. They actually do a damn good job.
|
Well, I withdraw aeromed is a farce and insert aeromed services have become a bit of a farce due to kangaroos on the runway at night.
You know I never intended to slur the gallant ladies and gentlemen of that service. http://www.ntnews.com.au/images/uplo...bies-fence.jpg Runway wallabies keep night flights on ground September 8th, 2009 This mesh fence was supposed to solve the wallabies problem This mesh fence was supposed to solve the wallabies problem WALLABIES are continuing to plague night operations at a Territory airfield more than four months after a mesh fence was supposed to solve the problem. Pearl Aviation has not yet resumed aero medical flights at night from the Tindal Air Base near Katherine. The company continues assessing risks with the defence force. But Wing Commander Rob Chipman said he was unable to say when Pearl Aviation would resume the flights. "We do not influence Pearl Aviation," he said. "They're making their own assessments of the risk." Defence aircraft continue to use the base at night, he said. "The risk of colliding with a wallaby with a (Defence) aircraft are not quite as dire as they are for a Pearl Aviation aircraft." Tindal is used for military and civilian flights, including charter, tourism and aero medical services. Pearl Aviation stopped retrieving patients from the base after two of its planes hit wallabies in 2007. Two defence F/A-18 Hornets also hit wallabies last year. A 1.8m-high chain wire mesh barrier was erected around the airfield to cut down on the numbers of wallabies in April. But Mr Chipman said hundreds of animals remained inside the new fence. "There are still areas within the wallaby-proof fence that are bushland," he said. This month Defence culled 112 animals in two weeks. Mr Chipman said Defence was looking at different ways of solving the problem but found culling had so far proven to be the most successful way. My bold |
This month Defence culled 112 animals in two weeks RAAF couldn't give a toss because it doesn't affect their operation, but wait untill an accident or something serious and they need that NTAMS aircraft. THEN things will move. |
There would be a scream if a pointy jet lost a part of a wheel on take off and the knuck decided to eject.
