The a/c was a 96 model I think, and I used some generic Ratheon data I could find for a 2001 model, and as you point out air con plus goodness nknows what else, so either way it was on its limits at best it seems. And a very good lesson on how when all is at the limits and temperature and altitude is high.......she aint going to leap into the air with any startiling prformance. C of G can really be an issue, the plane may well be fine a few KG overweight, but aft C of G is going to make it interesting:eek: J |
PF, yes a C210 would have romped it in...but you'd be ready to slash your wrists by about the time he crashed:E

I must admit, I've never flown a Bonanza so I have no idea what it is you guys love so much. I've ridden in a Debonair and I have a couple of Baron hours but that's it.

Chimbu & Notmyc152 :D very humourous regarding C210 (army blitz's that happen to fly) In regard to the Bonanza crash, my calculations are similar to Chimbu's. The main unknown variables being BEW, fuel on board and PAX weight. If these parameters were high, combined with a tail wind, and hot and high day, and reefing the thing off only 2/3rds down the strip.. and then trying to resist poling back as the terrain rises up at you.. maybe that is what caused it.. A big real life lesson for me:uhoh: |

If you have flown a Baron, then you have flown a Bonza! Handle very much the same IMHO - as long as both donks are running. Well, except for the V35 - acknowledged as having the best control "feel" of all the lighties. C210 ? Don't get me wrong - I think they are a good bush workhorse, but ........... did I tell you about the day I stepped from the V35 into a C210 (one up) and when it came time to rotate on TO from a fairly short strip (Jaba knows it!) had a moment of anxiety cause the control force required was so great relative to the V35B that I thought I had left the control lock in? Two hands on the wheel and a big pull back saved the day! Dr :cool: |

I;ve been inand out of Cameron Park about half a dozen times. last time was in a Duchess. Runway is plently long but as the field is located in a bowl, with the usual airflow in that area its sinking over the airfield so climb performance is usuall pretty anemic. In the summer it can get very very hot.
Love the field, only place where you can drive down the st and have to give way to a Cessna 441. have a great pic of a house with garage, inside a mercedes, Porsche 911 and TBM700 parked side by side. Ah, to only win lotto. |
