LHRT,

(1) Approach into Carnarvon, (2) Not sure...Shark Bay somewhere maybe....?? (3) On descent into Jandakot (4) Nearly overhead YPPH on approach to Canning Bridge...

By the way how is KWO going, had the misfortune to hangar rash the left winglet one time in YMEK.....the wind was up and shifted the St Barbs hangar door at the most inappropriate moment!!

RENURPP 22nd Jun 2008 04:03

Some oldies. Does anyone recognise the place. Hint, its still designated as an airfield in Aus.

Strewth LHRT, there's almost enough in there to keep FTDK happy. Quick question, what's the thingy on top of the panel?

compressor stall 22nd Jun 2008 10:29

Last time I flew KWO it was an electronic checklist on the glareshield.

Lefthanded_Rock_Thrower 22nd Jun 2008 11:49

Yeh, what compressor stall said.

Sarcs, good job !!!, (2) was east of Monkey Mia, you can see the road accross to Denham and the airstrip to the South of the road.

Bit more comfy than the old Jab, isnt it?:E

PyroTek 23rd Jun 2008 02:48

bit more spacious too!
bit faster, bit higher, bit larger

but hey, the jab can land at YCAB, give it that!

ABX 23rd Jun 2008 03:17

...bit faster, bit higher, bit larger...
Bit bigger fuel bill!

So can the 767 - once!:}

LHRT or Compressor,

A couple of tech question about KWO for either of you to answer.

1. Just above the Marker panel is a guarded switch, what is that for?
2. Next to the starter switch, there are 2 switches visible, what are they?

I fly a PC12 with an exec interior and we don't have either of the above in ours, so i'm guessing they must be something to do with the Med Kit.

Cheers.

D-Day & Beyond-WACO Glider Weekend & Employee Program 21 - 22 June.

Let me guess, your next plane a glider ?

jack red 23rd Jun 2008 06:34

Yep, that Google search will give it to you every time !:E

Lefthanded_Rock_Thrower 23rd Jun 2008 09:28

goin'flyin,

(1) is an alternate power source for the stand by AH ( direct to battery ).

(2) 2 switches, there are three switches, the third has been cut off in that fine piece of photography, they are the test switches, the operator saw fit to move them to a more user friendly spot ( pusher, fire and light tests ).

FYI the medical switches are above the electrical brow switch panel.

D-Day & Beyond-WACO Glider Weekend & Employee Program
The strip looks kinda short for gliders?

Let me guess, your next plane a glider ?
Maybe I am looking at a WACO - would kinda suit my personality!

LHRT,

"the operator saw fit to move them to a more user friendly spot ( pusher, fire and light tests )."

That's one thing about the WESTOPS CP he was always thinking how to best set out an aircraft for single pilot ops. He was also very big on standardising aircraft, which made a lot of sense when you were doing an aircraft swap in the middle of the night!!

LHRT, quick question. How are they going to do the same with the new PC12s as I understand they will be FMS/full glass?

By the way those SANDELS are a good bit of kit aren't they? From memory the only maintenance they required was the replacement of a light bulb every 200hrs.

cheers Sarcs.

Lefthanded_Rock_Thrower 23rd Jun 2008 13:23

SARC's, I'd imagine training training training, and some more training, all good stuff.

You missed a "K", Wacko.:ok:

Cap'n Arrr 23rd Jun 2008 13:46

Way a mate in WESTOPS explained it to me was that the normal position for a few switches is up on the roof, and it's not somewhere you want to be looking for a switch coming into a black hole approach in the middle of the night, so they moved it!:ok:

Jabawocky 23rd Jun 2008 15:31

Forkie...... found one for ya, and much closer to home!

goin'flyin 24th Jun 2008 01:39

LHRT,

Thanks for the reply. Makes sense to move the test switches from down the side of the seat, (or where they on the overhead on KWO?). One i was flying was a 98 model so down the side of the seat, can be a bit of a stretch at times.

Having flown both the Legacy models and the NG, i can tell you from experience, it is not going to be easy for you guys trying to jump from Legacy to Next Gen on a regular basis.

And in keeping with the thread - a photo is now included.

morno 25th Jun 2008 11:03

It's a bit of a mystery why they didn't just upgrade the older PC12's to become the same as the newer one's (it is possible), instead of downgrading the newer one's to become the same as the old one's.

The guys who fly the newer (not the NG's) one's don't seem to have any problems with selecting the light switches on when going into black holes.... :ugh:

Jetstar1 - Merimbula - Dec 30th 2004. The 337 was the one that went in off Inverloch recently. The aircraft was only recently purchased from Merimbula.

Where is? Clues - Roy Goon was once the CFI and one of his students was to have his Mosquito shot down by flak following the famous raid to breach the walls of a prison at Amiens, France, (Operation Jericho) allowing prisoners awaiting execution to escape. His ex student was to survive as a POW but his navigator died in the crash.
