J430, I'm guessing these latest shots were taken at Clifton (Bange field), and that is an Iskra. Dunno what the ultralight is, but the last one is a Fairchild 24W; this one lives at Gatton.

Pretty slick there.....so which plane were you in????

Not sure about the jet, it looks like a Panther scaled down a bit. What is an Iskra if I may ask?

J:ok:

chimbu warrior 12th Mar 2007 05:44

J430, nah, wasn't there, but I have been in years past.

The Iskra is an eastern European design, but don't know much about it.

J430 12th Mar 2007 06:23

I googled and looked it up, dont think its a Iskra TS-11, its tail etc is quite different.

Still think its a Gruman Panther replica, scaled down maybe to a 75% or something. Think I have a mag article at home about it somewhere. Will check it out!.

It's supposedly the first home-built experimental Jet. Quite impressive. If I recall correctly it is a scaled Panther of sorts. A great achievement!

Give Molly my best regards:ok:

Are you engaged to the younger or older daughter?

They were both babies when we were neighbours in Lae in the late 80s. If you're marrying the younger just make sure she's 'pool trained'...Molly will explain:}

Excellent PNG pictures...many great memories there...including the mighty F28...now THAT was a fun aeroplane!!!!!:D

J430 14th Mar 2007 00:56

Hi Folks

Just for everyones general knowlege I have since found out what the Experimental Jet ws that was posted by me the other day. It is in fact a 3/4 replica of a Grumman Panther, built by a guy in Brisbane.

First amateur built jet in Australia!:D

First flight was 1st of April 2006 in Kingaroy. Found an article in the SAAA mag from Aug/Sep 2006. I understand it was a bit of a handful until some CofG issues were sorted (rumour only). But it seems to fly well fast and slow now!

Yeah looks like Shute Harbour.
Tagneah: Glenelg for the 1st one is it?

PS2A_yay! 16th Mar 2007 03:37

FTDK and jetstar1 are correct. It is Shute Harbour at Airlie Beach. Great place to land, grab a beer and watch all the beavers coming in from their days work in the whitsundays.
Ahhh, the memories

And Tagneah, top photo is Glenelg in SA. Departure of RWY 23 YPAD.

bushy 16th Mar 2007 03:52

Central Australia

The first one looks like Coober Pedy, and the second looks like the area to the north of CooberPedy. The aerodrome is OOdnadata. The old Ghan railway line used to go through there, but the line has been torn up now. You can see where it used to be.

Peter Fanelli 16th Mar 2007 05:28

Anyone remember the good old days when you'd find a Flight Service Unit in a place like Oodnadatta?

185skywagon 16th Mar 2007 06:11

Bushy,
Correct on #2 and #3.
Taken from outside the FS building. It is all looking very decrepit.
