We should be staying hot about the real issue here. The trumped up case that labeled GA as a security risk at all.

I dont see these draconian laws being applied to parking lots where a Honda civic 'might' be stolen and loaded to the gills with TNT and driven under the QVB.

We let them do this to us.

Let's be honest... UTR

Moorabbin is a private airfield after all and they can do what they want!

Exactly the same as Essendon and Bankstown they still have a gate with a pin number on it that you read when you leave, then type in again to get back in again.

I'm sure I'd be suffering the same problems if I went up north to your field no doubt.

They are doing their best to make it easy for everyone given the new requirements.

Swiping or passing a credit card on the gate is a fair and reasonable method of gaining access to public areas thus allowing re-entry to airside. Better that than having to have a specific airside pass.

Makes you wonder then why we need one (airside pass).

Good idea, but the credit card only allows 48 hour return access at present... if they bumped that up 72 or more, you'd be covered for an extended weekend after-hours visit, with the backup being the gate with the fixed code on it... that would also fix UTR's problem.

Better still why don't we just micro chip every pilot in the country! Then we can get rid of all these silly ASIC cards once and for all. With Micro chipping identity fraud is no longer a problem, and you can get access to every gate and tarmac area to your heart's content. Dotars can track you by sattillite so if you happen to stray into the wrong area a helpful federal agent can come and politely direct you where you need to go!!!!! And while we're at it why not dispense with this silly national identity card and microchip the whole population!! Would solve so many problems!!! :}

As for power failures, it's all running on a backup system and shouldn't happen.
And the Titanic shouldn't sink either.
