NAC baby yeah!

Just had alook at NAC's flashy website that you can just go to town on clicking this and that and pondered.......... Whats the go up there in the big smoke with NAC? Anyone know what the various remuneration packages/conditions are for light twin/210 drivers???

Like i.e if you have a few twin hrs <500 (i'm talking NT charter hours not wizzing round in a duchess yelling at people) would you go to a remote base or be able to hook into DWN and all the goodness it has to offer???

Any factual info will be highly regarded and maybe even just a few vibes would do.....

cheers

Pay is below award.

Will probably have to go bush.

Plenty of non paid work expected in the hangar if in Darwin.

An overabundance of pilots on the books.

Typical GA, don't believe anything S***** says.

Chief Pilot is a weak character.

These comments are factual.

I believe the "cabin class" work is fairly busy at the moment, but they are expecting that to taper off, and "are trying to avoid recruiting any new pilots". Casuals included.

Cool

You are so very right. Beware the CP. They won't take you mate. Don't waste your time.

Concentrate on the big picture

Question

Sorry guys, I gotta ask. What is your problem with Phil? I found him quite good (after my previous CP), and honestly cannot see what you're on about.

Rgds,
Ops.

Wink NAC

OK after having read many a NAC wind up and bashing, I am going to comment.

Flying Phonebox;
Having worked for NAC i can say:

Pay

Award for casual as per the GA award (refer to AFAP) $53 hr
like just about every where else you don't get all the terms of the award for GA Casual
Full time - no idea never asked

Conditions -

Can be difficult with many drivers after only a limited number of hours/jobs. But where are the conditions good for drivers even with more than 500multi 2000TT.

You WILL need another job, if you wish to fly for NAC and earn more than $400 per week.

Aircraft -

On the whole no different the standards found in most GA Fleets (excluding Class A and meticulously maintained machines)

The PA31's Great, C402 acceptable, C421 , 310's and B58's were some of the best i have stepped foot inside and others where the worst. Singles where well maintained.

Chief Pilot -

Would like to know what your problem is with him ?
He is responsible for over 30 pilots, big task (keep that in mind) on a GA financial constraints. Not to mention 4 remote bases to monitor/audit.
He also holds all ATO approvals/instruments external to NAC and its AOC as far as I know.

Pilots -

Way too many on the line - many below the 1000 hr level

I have not seen any GA jobs where you are not asked to some extra work. From what i witnessed those whom do the extra yards got rewarded with a decent amount of hours, some took that as favouritisim ect. HA always rewarded those who worked.

BTW i did not lift a finger in the time that i was there aside from washing aircraft.

Thats what i experienced, i would have no problem doing it again

If you choose to work there understand it is going to be very competitive no matter how much experience you have... you will be rubbing shoulders with turbine experienced guys flying the NAC line.

I did a 402c indorsement with NACs CP and must say he is nothing short of a true gentlemen.Anyone whos flown with the SkyPig will understand the diference between a good CP and a S@#$ one.(darwin no standards)
If you dont put in the hard yards when your in GA ,Youl have nothing to talk about when you get into an airline.
