Angry New NZAIP documents

What the f.u.c.k is up with the new AIP costing so much????

If you wanted to get a complete set (IFG, PLanning Manual and VFG equivalents and the amendments services), then you are up for a $700-ish dent in the bank balance (if you have one).

And what really grates me is that after they kiss you on the cheek after a less than romantic sexual encounter they will then make available the documents on-line for next to nothing if not free

What do you other NZers think about it?

S2K,

It breaks me, I already have a IFG with ammendment service and just because some rocket scientist decides that it is not good enough anymore I have to pay for a new one, if you want to change it fine, just dont make the industry pay for it.
Do they not realise that you average line pilot only flys to a fixed number of destinations and probably only uses about 10 pages in the thing anyway?!?!?!?

Rant rave swear

Its Helens fault

This is part of a new awakening in Helengrad. Shes discovered a concept called supply and demand. There was a demand for snatch hireage so the pro's were legalized last week. Theres no demand for pilots or other high cost qualifications apparently so she's strangling the loans. That didn't really work because the applications keep rolling in, but put the cost of the books up - what a master stroke. The students are really spewing. Airline pilots, as someone above said, don't give a toss, because its paid for. $500 for some books just to pass exams. I thought Massey (not sure about the flying side) went crazy on texts, but CAA has them beat. Its wonderful to be part of such a clever little piece of paradise.

Jeez sqwark does that tight boss of yours not pay for you guys' IFG's either?

You can have my one in a few weeks

I will be interested to see the standard of this new AIP, if they're anything like the shockingly bad standard of the new VFR maps then you will probably just carry on using the old ones.

Seriously have you looked at subscribing to the Jeppesen IFG charts instead? They are 1000000 times better and of course they're the same the world over, they're what you'll be using at Air NZ one day so might as well start getting used to it

In most places the boss pays for the ammendments but the book is your problem, thats what pisses me off, you can be damm sure the approach plates are still going to be the same (they haven't gone and recalibrated every approach in NZ so I can only assume that they will be), so it's going to be 150 odd dollars out of my pocket to use pages out of a different book that looked the same/do the same job as the old ones!

hey man, from what i hear thru the smoke, people are going to refusing to pay the subscriptions.

mind you this is airline pilot dudes, they want their companies to pay for it.

as they say, just wait until the free ones come out on the web.

or better still, just copy the pages you need. and save your cash for the new baby.

Hey new DAD!

I'm through your way in Aug, might throw my set at your hangar.
Although I'm sure the boss will pay for your new sets....

Keep getting those combat naps...you'll need em!

From what I hear the new amendments are so NZ comes up to ICAO standards.

Why didn't they do it years ago????

Why do we have to pay out the rear to change something which has no problems????

Can somebody tell me what the deal is with them coming onto the internet for free.

OH....if you work for the great operator in NZTG who treats his staff like monkeys, you will get nothing paid for.
