Tobago landing without nosewheel
My hat goes off to the instructor pilot of the YSBK Tobago that landed yesterday without a nosewheel. Perfect text book landing and you were cool and calm throughout. Full marks and well done.

No, the Tobago that lost its nose wheel after take off from Cessnock then did an emergency landing on Saturady arvo sending a shower of sparks as the nosewheel strut scrapped its way down 29C at YSBK.

Anyone know why it did not have a nosewheel on arrival at BK?
(One presumes it did have one when it left Cessnock and so therefore it probably fell off somewhere - I guess we would all be interested know the circumstances that led to this unfortunate loss.)

A bit late, however,
I was flying the aircraft in question (VH-BFI) in the morning before the incident.
Apparently, The clip that holds the nosewheel snapped and the way that the french designed the wheel, as it rotated forward, it automatically unscrewed itself! Hence it falling off..
Repairs were made quickly and the aircraft was back in no time..

Ahhh, so it was the French!
Not knowing much about Lumbagos, does this happen a lot? - Or might there have been some slight Australian contribution somewhere in the subsequent many years that this aircraft has resided downunder??
Thanks for the info Tobago boy - so far!
