Information on Australian Av.-industry

Hey everyone,

i got to come to oz to find out about a girl. therefore, i am looking for info on the state of affairs of the australian aviation industry. because i might possibly stay. if you can give me pointers of down under websites for jobs and charter operators (preferably in WA (Perth area even better)), and your opinion on things.

personal experience is ATPL, PIC on single and twin turboprop pressurized and none.

thanks in advance,

Western Australia huh?

Halls Creek, Balgo. Nice part of the world....

We've got that many pilot's here all vying for the few flying jobs there are around. I'd say forget it.

Let's just hope things will improve and good luck to Oz aviators looking for a job

Don't forget the flying schools and universities churning out hundreds of commercial pilots each year, all looking for a job and willing to work for next to nothing

Draven, there was only 830 Pilots at Ansett. Of these, about 100 went to QF and DJ and the rest either are in GA(not many), overseas or retired from flying. At the last 'census', about 520 AN pilots had found flying jobs somewhere. After AN went down , it took me 9 painful months to find another flying job, and I applied at every turbine operator in Oz and at every company in the world(except Africa and Russia) that operated the aircraft that I was endorsed on at AN(3 jet types). About 180 applications in all.

So you get at least one positive reply, I think the situation here and there are similar and Im sure you will find something, maybe not in Perth though, Skippers aviation is a big operator in Perth, beyond that the isolated areas are most prospective, RFDS WA is worth talking to, given the pervading attitude youve gotten so far tho' you must be wondering why bother?
