Hey guys
Just sent off another student first solo, on returning grin from ear to ear, it is worth the frustration and the pineapple
Cheers Q.

how good r my instructors?

umm.....not here to criticize my last instructor or ne thing of this sort, but the more i am progressing with my training, the more i am hating my first instructor who helped me to get my solo in 14 hrs.

passed g.f.p.t in time. thanx to him. he took me to my first nav and cursed the hell out of me. like calling me names n all. i was so happy when the CFI asked me to fly with another instructor coz he was in short of his required hrs or something. flew with him, loved it and have been flyin with teh same chap eversince.

the first guy is a super duper pilot. cant beat that. however, his ability as an instructor questions his overall figure.

i have heard similar complains by other students abt instructors cursing and giving them hard times in the air. we r there to learn. so, teach us like decent folks and not like @$$holes.

I'm starting to get fg sick of people saying that the vast majority of instructors are just in it for the hours and $$$ and don't care about their students.

I was a 200 hour instructor and YES I was in it for the hours, of course! But to not care about my students!?!?!? Get your hand off it! I cared very much and so do the vast majority of low hour instructors. Do many students or other non-instructors understand the ammount of unpaid work that is the daily norm of most low hour instructors? Would we DO that if we didn't care!?!?!

I know that people are speaking in general terms, but having been a student at a large flying school with many instructors, both experienced and in-experienced, as well as having worked at a small country flying school, I have yet to meet an instructor that couldn't care less, and only one that could stand to care a little more.

Yes there are poor instructors out there, yes, for most it is a way of building hours. If you get a bad one, CHANGE!!!

Dear richie
If these other students you speak of are unhappy with their instructors, I would suggest they get their little bottys out of there and find another organization. I have spoken about my frustration, but at no time in the air or elsewhere have I lost my temper or raised my voice with a student. The best way to upset me is a lack of study particularly before early navs. I agree with hassel I am yet to meet an Instructor that doesn't care.
Hope your training is now fun as it's supposed to be.
Cheers Q.

dear qnim
thanks for ur post, sir. i am not sure how u guys read it, i actually didnt post my reply to bash my "instructors." i guess i should have elaborated bit more on my experience with my "first" instructor and compare him with the second one who also is building time, like everyone else, but has more caring and positive attitude towards his students.

i am aware of the standard of training here in oz and i love it. it is because of this i am paying a fortune out of my dads pocket to learn quality flying. however, much of the fun is demoralized when one takes u up and curses u just coz its "one of those days when you feel like everyone u see." He admitted later on that he shouldnt have been like that and i havent flown with him since.

dont get me wrong here. my CFI, other senior/junior instructors are wonderful people. its just that out of a flock, one or two turns out to be complete idiots and that surely spoils the fun. they are good pilots, but i doubt if anyone would call them good instructors. (this gets us back to the topic of the post, i guess)

I am glad you dont raise your voice when u take students up. people like you have won the students respect, trust me. i was actually thinking about our third senior-most instructor who is always out there to help students and surely, we all love him, as we do all our instructors.

Take care and hope u understand my perspective more.
