Sometimes I think there are more forums than people connected to the internet. As I focus on aerobatics with occasional rantings about the Great Flight Manual debacle my favourites, in addition to Pprune, are:

Aerobatics in Australia

Flight Adventures

Totalpilot

Australian GA Forum

I'm intrigued by all these discussions about AOPA but I don't feel inclined to join it at this time. Maybe next year if I leave the aerobatic club.

I'll give AGAF a miss

In this and the AOPA forums there is balance. Some sniping and Brianh thinks the Woomeri are out to get him . But generally most stuff here seems to serve a purpose.

I tried posting on AGAF, tried reasoning with one of the 'detractors'. It was to no avail. My personal experience of AGAF was that it was generally negative when it came to CASA and AOPA issues. I found it unhelpful and disheartening.

I feel for the moderators there, because looking at the posting rates it is easy to see that two 'characters' are the main antagonists who in my view spoil that forum for all.

I won't be going back there.

We don't need that, we need leadership, togetherness and to work to a common goal. I don't think that means we all must agree all the time, but like Brianh, we must all listen to reason and realise we are the ones driving GA's future. I don't think that is happening on AGAF.

So it goes.

I reckon it is one of the most well balanced forums around along with the Sydney Airport forum. There not scared to take issues on unlike some others around.

Snarek, I recall you bagging out pprune a few times to the AOPA members on the AOPA forum last year. What has changed? You encouraged the members to keep right away from pprune. Short memory I guess, you remind me of some politicians we see around on the media.

I believe you are an AOPA director and posted some question on www.agacf.org but you refused yourself to answer questions from your AOPA members. Not Good & No Commitment.

Maybe you should learn to listen and hear the people who voted you in, and truly represent them?

I noticed that John and Martha King did not have anything positive to say about AOPA Australia either at the NAS forums.

If you are really serious about fixing things up here in Australia, please lead by example and stop bagging people.

Now lets stop the crap and help fix Aviation Australia up, instead of pulling it down.

We need your help too.....

NOW HANG ON AKKERS

Akkers,

Coz we are mates, and the guys at ACA are planning to drop the morse so good old semi-deaf me can finally go from a limited to a full ham radio ticket, I won't attack you old buddy.

But, it is obvious to the thinkers that your post was a well intentioned effort to shaft agaf - and that is an obvious result of your possible status in AOPA rather than the sentiment you expressed about agaf.

Now as for me "listening to reason" I should sue you coz I laughed so much I fell off the chair and hurt myself. There was no reason given to me to which to listen and I remain convinced - as I add do most who contacted me - that somewhere in a kennel close by is a dog who is torn between serving two masters. This reflects ill on both masters.

I suggest to you, if you yourself are in a mood to listen to reason, that two people from a certain unnamed organisation are so paranoid about open debate and criticism that every time it occurs they endeavour to stamp it out by pulling out the big legal gun (admittedly full of blanks but joe average is not willing to test the hypothesis). In the ultimate, that pair will be seen by those who would prefer their efforts directed to aviation not personalities as playing russian roulette with an automatic pistol and will lose credibility. You do yourself a personal dis-service by aiding and abetting.

And, just a minor correction, I do not believe the Woomeri are out to get me. I love their work. I asked a question about one Woomera and the lack of a credible answer gives the answer. A second addition rather than correction - "in this and the AOPA forums there is balance" should have added to it "and censorship or thread closures when question time gets too close to the bone".
Cheers
and I acknowledge that, like me, you too at least are prepared to put your name against your posts, although I am not backwards!!!

Backward talking, insanity for the purposes of.

Brian

I learned to spell my name backwards the day I first put on my Coats Man Field and donned my first Khaki Fur Felt.

I even put 'snarek' on my greens to really piss "them" off

As for AGAF, I tried. I don't blame AGAF or even the moderator. I think he is a great bloke who really has the interests of GA at heart. We need more like him.

But have a look at AGAF. Go to the members section and count the posts. Nearly 60% are from two people. Now on any topic concerning AOPA, CASA or the Government, find one positive post. If I (and I would care to bet anyone) posts a pro-AOPA post (not that there is one) it gets attacked by these two individuals. Those attacks have in my view, brought the whole forum into disrepute.

What GA needs is leadership from those prepared to put their voice to good work. Not sniping. If I don't see a positive reason to post to a particular forum I have decided I won't post there at all. That is the view I have formed of AGAF.

I hope the moderator can fix it without 'censorship'. Perhaps a limit on post numbers to force the detractors to count their rounds, I don't know. Any ideas???

As for the particular 'Woomera' I asked him straight, he gave me a straight answer and I believe him. He isn't censoring your posts.

POINT WELL TAKEN MATE

Akkers,

Good stuff and I will ensure it gets back to agaf - although I do not actually get on there much.

Your action re "that Woomera" is greatly appreciated. The only word I would add to your post to ensure the sort of legal accuracy our colleague Creampuff prefers is to add new extra words "since you made it public" after your words "He isn't censoring your posts".

Roll on healthy debate and a strong and growing AOPA.
Cheers mate, have a good weekend,
Brian H
