Instructing in OZ
I have a UK ATPL and Instructors rating, I also hold an OZ ATPL without an instructors rating.
I have been instructing in the UK for some time now and have about 3300 hours of which 2000 hours are instructing
In the UK we have either FI (Flight Instructor) Restricted or Unrestricted, Basically giving the instructor the ability to instruct without supervision from an unrestricted Instructor, also the to authorise first solos.
We then have add on ratings which we can add at our desire
Instrument Training
Night
Multi
Aerobatic
etc
How is the grading system in Oz worked out and how do you progress through each grade

Have a look at www.casa.gov.au and follow the links to the Civil Aviation Orders (CAOs) which contain the info you want.
There is an instructor grading system starting at Grade 3 (least experienced) going to Grade 1, which you need to be to be a CFI. Various hours and experience requirements apply for each, it's all reasonably well explained in the orders, although I won't claim to be any kind of expert.
