QF active consideration (AGAIN)
Sorry to put you all through this again, but I have just heard of a new twist to this one.
A mate of mine completed first stage testing a month ago and has been sent a letter advising that he is under active consideration for the sim ride / panel interview stage. He was also given an approximate date that he may be called in for a go at the next stage. My questions are thus:
1. Is this a new thing? I have heard of active consideration after the sim ride / interview but not before.
2. How many hold files are QF running?
3. Is this a polite way of saying "you didn't make it"?
Any light on the above questions would be helpful as I'm about to end my year of QF purgatory and may be going through all this in a few months.

I got this after stage 1 testing also, I didn't read too much into it other than their recruiting system is backed up. I sent them an update at the time they requested and was called to sim ride and interview with a two month lead.
Don't lose heart and think it's a negative on your part. I'd say they are just a little tied to course dates, numbers etc. YOu're definitely still in the race!

This is a very normal thing to happen. It is my understanding that if they need to put 20 people thru the sim ride and your mate is #21 as far as his competitiveness is concerned, he will not get to sim on that particular "batch". However in the current environment, it is only a matter of time before he is competitive enough to progress to sim, given that he has passed Stage 1 to QF's satisfaction. Some people do very well in Stage 1 and go straight to sim, sometimes even the next day! Maybe he should be thankful he's not thaaaat good! Good luck.

I have heard of at least 3 people that have got the same letter after stage one in the past week. I myself got the same letter last week after stage two recently but it seems to coincide with rumours i've heard that recruitment is on hold for a couple of months.
I wouldn't take it as bad news, if you didn't make it, they'd knock you back. I guess patience is the key. Just be thankful you've begun the process. I've heard of a couple of guys recently that applied and were told to reapply in July and November!!
Hopefully things pick up after the war and the courses start running agin!!

Good luck Rupie old boy! The grass is very much greener on the other side (even when its sand, and there is a small war in the nieghbourhood!!). Don't forget that VB and Dragon are still a looking as well!

Thanks to all for your replies. Hopefully this recruiting thing will pick up in the next few months.
Don, an extra stripe?!! Sounds too much like responsibility to me. They might realise that I'm having too much fun this year and try to put a stop to it, but I'll wait and see. Had a roti or 10 for you up in Butts a few weeks ago.
