Q April
Alto,
Thanks for the reply, sent you a message in your PM's.
BDCER,
We are in the same boat. If you change two letters, you have ULCER!!! I feel the same. I don't know of anyone who has been called for an April course. I have had conflicting information about whether it going to run or not. Things look good though (from FF and Alto).
If nothing happens, I am going to wait harder!!!
Please let us know of any news.

They are still interviewing people, so read into that what you will.
I have a mate coming to stay while he does his interviews in the second week in April - that would mean that he would be looking at a June start date at the earliest I'd imagine (all going to plan of course )...
Other than that, Sim instructors have said that there prob won't be as much training occurring as last year, but they aren't all rushing off & making holiday plans in anticipation of any sudden 'halt' in recruiting!

Johhny Utah,
If your friend is interviewing in Apr, how can they process him through that stage plus reference checks, security checks & dental xray & panel him for Jun? As far as I have seen with my mates, it takes at least one month per stage at the moment (this isn't meant to be a negative post, I am just passing on what I have heard).
Littlefishbig****,
How reliable is your info about the cadet course in May? Has the course been approved? With reference to the April course, is the possible reduction in numbers due to the classic upgrades (if so how long will the sims be off line for?) or has management decided to hedge their bets by reducing the amount of incoming pilots in this risky climate.
Sorry, all questions & no answers!

bdcer - it can & has been done in the past. When I did my interviews I did Stage one on tuesday, Sim ride on wed, Board/Stage 2 on thurs, then medical on friday. It was quite a stressful week, but it all worked out because my reference checks were being done 2 & 1/2 weeks later. I received an offer of employment on a saturday night 3 weeks after doing my medical, and started the following Thursday in Sydney. I know of at least one other mate of mine who got in on a similar time frame, and also had a guy doing the testing with me at the same time who was down from Singapore who had the same schedule for his interviews etc, but didn't get through them all....
I believe that the general timetable of events has changed a little in the last few months. Traditionally there has been a month or so in between stages, however I'm led to believe that the new procedure is for candidates to do the sim ride, board/stage 2 & medical on concurrent days. I guess this gives Qantas the opportunity to do reference checks & then call candidates up with an offer of employment at relatively short notice (plus it saves guys travelling all the way back down just to do a medical with the Qantas doctor). Some might not agree with this but hey - it is Qantas' trainset & they'll play with it however they like!

QF
I did sim interview and medical a couple of weeks ago. I asked what was happening with recruiting during the interview and the reply was that pilot recruiting was continuing as normal. I'm sure it changes all the time though. I guess alot will depend on what happens in Iraq in the next week or two.
For now its just the waiting game.

Recruitment Update
With the current world issues as of today, QANTAS will not be taking any new stage one applicants until atleast July 2003.
Those already in the selection process, ie - have already completed a selection stage (eg - skills/psych), will continue to be processed.

QF man, i'll assume you're a reliable source so here's a few more questions for you!
1) what is the QF 12 month pilot intake forecast??
2) how many of the above are likely to be cadets??
3) how vulnerable to the world climate are the projected hirings??
4) is the expansion and renewal program still going ahead at the initial rate despite with the current downturn??
Cheers in advance
