Question Qantas Cadetship and Company Q's

Hi, I am very interested in getting whatever info is out there about the Qantas Cadetship. I am looking to apply this year (if they offer a 2004 cadetship).

Does anyone have any new information, or tips on how to be your best at any or all the stages (I have checked and read past message threads on this topic with alot of info from the 2001 intake - have they changed it since? or is it the same/similar style?).

I was also wondering if anyone knows where to get the latest and best info on Qantas aircraft, their configurations, the differences between types (eg 767-200 and 767-300) etc. All the info you could expect Qantas to ask you about in the interview.

If anyone would like to PM me with info - please don't hesitate, I don't care what it is - every little bit helps. I really want to make the best go of it as possible!

I am sure there are others who haven't taken part in this process yet and are looking for this info as well.

Cheers,
SSC

Is it possible for those who have private messaged SSC to pass the information on to me?

Also, how certain is it that QF will run a program for 2004?

Thanks in advance for all the help.

Peter, have you checked the AAFC BB in the flying forum? A couple of threads there about the cadetships. If you don't know what the AAFC BB then you aren't the Peter Gow I thought you were so sorry about that.

Cruizer - this might not be what your looking for but the Qantas web site has a very comprehensive section on Pilot Hiring. As I understand it the Cadets are taken through the same process. ie: psych testing, interview etc. They have kindly posted examples of what to expect with this on the site and others can be found with some Googling...

You would also have to meet all other Direct Entry requirements as listed (except hours of course).

The other suggestion I would make is to contact the training organisations that Qantas uses for the cadet scheme directly and discuss it with them. These schools are easy enough to identify.

Keep in mind that this is still a self funded course with no promises - but should you be succesful there is no doubt you would definately have a foot in the proverbial door.

I also wouldn't mind knowing about the flying forum and what AAFC stands for

Flightfocus
I have pretty much looked over the whole Qantas website with a fine comb, looking for stuff like a/c differences that only flight crew would know about - stuff that you can't find on any QF website. Thanks for the tip on asking flying schools, I might give GFS a go

Cheers,

Peter Gow,

I would gladly pass on and share any PM's I received in relation to this thread but I didn't receive any. I also wonder if SuperSonicCruizer received any because I PM'd him/her and received no reply even though I know him/her read my PM!

Keg will do on here Peter. Not at 302 any more. I've moved in town. Mr Odlum and Mr Jones will be able to tell you what I do in there. I assume you're still in?

Hi DOK001,

Cheers mate - You will most likely see me in SYD or MEL, ADL will be my last choice due to geography (I am not saying that BA systems is a bad flying school or anything like that).

The points you raise on personality are well received, I know a guy that failed the cadetship psych test because he was not being honest. I only wish I knew more people that actually got in!

The thing that worries me most is the panel interview, as they will be asking you questions relating to your background. So if you are doing a degree in aviation are they going to get all real technical and ask stuff on structures and stuff I learned a couple years back? Will they ask ATPL standard questions because I passed all my ATPL's? If so then there is quite a bit of study to be done just to get back to scratch.

Until then I am just taking it one stage at a time, will just have to cross that bridge when I get to it!

All the best to you too DOK001 - just hope the Sept 30 decision is to proceed with the Cadetship - This is such a great opportunity for all us potential cadets!

Cheers,
SSC

Doubtless you guys have seen this - written for DE, but (from what I've been told, at least) provides a good overview of the Cadet process as well.

AAFC = Australian Air Force Cadets, use to be known as AIRTC or Air Training Corps.

Panel Interview

Hey guys.
Been reading this thread and thanks for the tips.
I've got my level 1 panel interview coming up this Friday and was just wondering if anyone had any further advice.
So far, I've read up the Qantas sight, spoken to Cadets, and other pilots.

Would love any help that you guys could offer.

Good luck to the guys applying.

Might see ya out there.
