General aviation in Australia

Hi all. I am currently living in the UK, but may be emigrating to Australia within the next 2-3 years (not definate yet- but thinking about it!).

Currently I am learning to fly, to get my PPL. At the moment, I am paying £120 (equivalent of $326 australian dollars) per hour for a C152, and once I pass the course I will be paying £100 (equivalent of $272 australian dollars) for the same C152 rental. Is this rate better in australia? I have been on the website of bankstown airport and have seen about $145 australian dollars for a C172. Does anyone have any advice on flying in Oz, costs, etc?

Cheers,

Louis Coke

Really dont know the actual rates but here some approximations:

C150 solo $90-115/ hr
C150 dual $120-145/hr

C172as you specified

Do a google search on Flying Training Australia

But for your $326/hr for a C150 in the UK would nearly get an hour private hire in a Baron BE58 Twin here.

BE76 Duchess(Twin) around $280/hour with an instructor.

Hope this helps

It seems you are being ripped off copared to here. you will pay on average about $135Aud per hour dual and about $97Aud solo in a 152. Jeez louise, you can have my C310 dry for that money.
I know some one that specializes in doing overseas licences in Australia so if your interested. drop me a PM and I will give you all the info. you will save more than it wil cost you for the airfare over here.
