Question

Is that the A/C that had the nosewheel retracted during runups?

Elk - negative - that was a CYA Navajo. The one in question ran off the end of Yam Island in the Torres Straits.

Elk and Nungry
The CYA Navajo's nose gear retracted as a result of pilot initiative.

Pilot moved on to a nearby Cairns operator.

The Navajo ex YYMI landing over-run incident was a total loss, last seen loaded on a truck and heading out of Cairns.

Aircraft fuselage severely damaged, partially stripped for salvageable parts, wings, spar attach area for undercarriage damaged, nosewheel possibly still in mangrove swamp at YYMI.

Not a likely prospect for a rebuild
