Talking That's better PaF :)

I only meant 2 years, as in let the systems & technology settle into the airframe, so to speak. Let the Yanks iron out the bugs. If the RAAF needed an urgent replacement, then so be it, necessity rules.

Well, perhaps we should look at the Su 27, or Su 30? Once delivered, reengine them, replace all the avionics & weapons systems and call it the Nomad 2???

Critical Mass,

You mentioned that you thought the F-18E would be a more likely solution, (maybe...... my thoughts are that F-15E would be the best bet) and that we should go with a proven, enhanced version of the jet we all ready have. You may wish to research a little further, and I think you would find that the Super hornet may look like our hornets, but was passed off to US Congress as an upgraded version of the -C model so as to fast track its introduction, (no requirement for a prototype etc) when in fact it is very much a new design.

It is still not fully loved by the USN or Marine guys yet, F-15E is the only currently proven platform which we all would love to get our hands on right now.
