B747-400 Er

G'day Guys,

Does anyone have a picture of the 747-400 ER flight deck, tried a few places on and off the NET and no luck!

What are the improvements to the flight deck?

thank you.

Try
www.airliners.net
they have 20 photos of the 747-400 flight deck, not specifically the ER.
Find the aircraft in Choose Aircraft Type in the Aviation Photo Search Engine section in the middle of the page then put in "cockpit flight deck" in the Keywords.
I can't help you with the intricacies of any differences.

Downwind,

Haven't seen any photos on the net of the ER flightdeck either - probably won't until it enters service, as the media and the public only want to see internal and external shots rather than the business end.

Don't know whether you'll see many differences anyway... LCD screens to replace the CRTs, and an EHSI instead of the standard one... possibly an EAI as well, but I can't remember

The ER's have an extra fuel tank holding approx 10,000kgs. this tank is at the rear of the forward hold ie just in front of the Centre Wing Tank and the potable water tanks that are in this position in the standard B744 have been moved to the rear of the aircraft. The new BRW is approx 18 tonnes heavier than the earlier aircraft and to support this the wing off the B744F has been fitted with stronger landing gear, brakes, tyres etc.
Minor changes on the flight deck with B777 style LCD's replacing the previous CRT's. Information is displayed in basically the same way with minor enhancements (eg colour changes to the yaw indicator (a rectangle at the base of the sky pointer) when an engine is shutdown). The fuel system controls on the overhead panel and the synoptic display have also been changed to provide for the new fuel tank. The main flight deck windows will be thicker to reduce the flight deck noise levels.
The cabin interiors have been updated with B777 style overhead bins etc.

This isn't a 400ER but it has the LCD's like it, so I'd imagine it's very similar.
