G’day all,
I seem to recall a past requirement (DOT, DOA, CAA, CASA . . . . . ) for pilots to wear a watch - can anyone shed light is this is still required ?

CAO20.18, Appendix 1.1.d requires the carriage of "an accurate timepiece indicating the time in hours, minutes and seconds. This may be carried on the person of the pilot or navigator."

Me thinks a smartphone qualifies.

That's what I thought too, but our esteemed leaders Gumby-ment say it's still in force.
Anyone mechanical watch? I am old school and wear a mechanical Swiss made pilot watch. How long will your smartwatch or smartphone last without recharging and becoming not so smart?
