Ownership and operating costs are far far cheaper in the USA, you would be surprised how many PPL holders own an aircraft. Everything from parking, engineering, fuel, insurance, is considerably cheaper vs here, including aircraft ratings and license additions.

What is a IFR rating these days? 25-30k? Having a look you can do this in the USA for about $10k. You can also hire a 182 or a 206 for $200-300hr, which is about half the price vs here. And people wonder why so many here do hour building in a Diamond or a 152, unless one is cash rich.
