BONZA - Current info working conditions

Keeping the other thread out of it at this point..

Can anyone give me a rundown of roster stability - examples out of Melbourne, general working conditions, and overall 'vibe'. Pos and neg?

Thanks in advance.

180k for a 737 Captain is a farce.

It’s better vs what they offer crew in its Canadian outfit. I won’t scare you with the numbers.

How Australian to lay 5hit on a new operator, saying they’ll go broke. Imagine if you’d been hung out to dry by Virgin, and you’ve gone to a new operation after not flying for a few years and someone writes such comments on an anonymous forum. What a charming character you must be. And no I don’t work for them, I work for the comp and hope Bonza succeed and keep the other bastards honest, mine included.

I don’t think many would disagree with you dejapoo.

However, you can’t blame some for asking some questions. The only carrier on earth with a mere 8 weeks only available to book a fare. Sister airline had a quarter of the fleet repossessed. Some very very questionably reported motives from its investor. Reports that they are here to profit from leasing and finance deals.

It would be great to see Bonza hang around a bit, it would also be great to see its employees get a competitive deal, something which they are not getting. However it’s hard to look past some alarm bells in the distance.

Keeping the others honest involves more than Bonza. Government has a few levers they should be pulling, something they are not doing.

I don't think any of the contributors here expressed a desire for the demise of Bonza - they quite accurately suggested prospective hires think BLOODY hard about joining the outfit given its precarious position.
I sincerely hope my predictions don't come to fruition, but to me, it doesn't look good.
I REALLY wish them all the best!

For people who've been part of this industry since deregulation, and seen this before on several occasions, Bonza hasn't a hope, not a snowflakes in you know what. It's not being nasty but if players like Compass One or the original Virgin Blue couldn't get it done, what hope are this mob. Some of the routes are just plain weird, they don't suit a regional jet let alone a 737, and oh yeah, the regional jet thing was tried and failed on what looked to be reasonable routes.

Bonza isn't a bloody hope, they could have pilots and attendants working for free and it'll still go nipples up.

I'd really hoped not to turn this thread into a sh1tshow. Was only looking for any current employees experience and as of yet, Ive not even submitted an application.

Im aware of the prevailing winds, and am merely looking into it and seeking some deeper info, hopefully from someone there . With such a new and small workforce it's not easy to ask a mate, or even a mate's mate. The few snippets I do have is that people are digging it.

Purely from an industry standpoint, I sincerely hope they can make it. Its good for everyone if they do - But like others, Im concerned about a few recent developments which only a small amount of internet detective work can uncover.

Cheers

Most of us would like to see any startup airline make it, if only because pilot jobs are created. The advice you get here is not intended to make a “sh!tshow” of the thread, merely to cast a cautionary note. Some of this advice comes from those who have seen it all before, and some may come from those with inside knowledge. Then there is pure speculation, probably based on available information about the parent company’s affairs. Keep doing your own detective work.
Whether you pursue a job with them and find their conditions acceptable surely depends on where you sit in the aviation food chain and how much risk you are willing to accept?
Pilots already there are unlikely to admit they made a mistake, and definitely not on this forum - in a small company they would soon be outed.
