Cirrus down in WA - Happy Ending

Heard the ELT beacon on 121.5 when we flew over the region today so did a search on Google and found this article behind a paywall. Apparently the pilot walked away so a happy ending. Anyone know more? https://thewest.com.au/news/aviation...own-c-10969184

Some photos on twitter. Looks like the pilot deployed the chute?

I see no sign of the ballistic chute use in those photos. What makes you think it was deployed?

I was thinking the exact same thing, I can't see any evidence of chute being deployed.

I see this was a non-residential area and we do not know yet if chute was used or not, but was wondering if there are any guidelines about using the chute over residential areas where a forced landing without chute may be overall safer? Cheers.

The vegetation surrounding the aircraft doesn't seem to have been disturbed much, suggesting it may have landed from a vertical trajectory as opposed to a normal forced landing. Just a guess, I may be wrong.

I have seen several Cirri that have deployed their chute. I can say for certain that this Cirrus has not deployed it's chute.
