School with variable FIR(A) dual hours

Hi all, I'm looking for a school that offers a Grade 3 FIR(A) with the hours varied to meet competency (instead of a fixed 35 hour course).

I'm Sydney based but available to travel. I'm a G1(H) and have extensive instructional experience. There used to be previous allowances for this in the regs, however it's disappeared with the new CASR regs.

Every school I've spoken to gives the blanket "you need to do all the 35 hours", or "you can do less hours, but you still need to pay the same amount".

I recognise there'll be nuances around planes etc and am not looking for a shortcut, just a school that's willing to recognise past experience (and hopefully save some $ on the way).

Thanks in advance. Cheers.

FRom CASA site "If you have an instructor rating and want to instruct in an aircraft of another category, you need to:
  • have the experience relevant for that category
  • pass the instructor rating flight test in an aircraft of the second category.
See CASR Part 61 Manual of Standards (MOS) Schedule 3 for more information."

The experience relevant to the aircraft rating is 200hrs TT in Aircraft. If you have that you can take the test and be issued the FIR (A).

PM me if you want to talk to a testing officer about this.

Call up school brain dead 20 year old telling you need to do a whole course or pay xx. Or call up school owner constantly self affirmed typical GA character an opinion on everything wants to direct as much cash flow to business as possible to fund new Merc and house.

Did an FPC with Douglas Heath at Redcliffe, gave him a shorter long brief on circuits but he kept it practical and didn't fuss over my delivery on the theory too much. Focused more on aircraft knowledge, common sense and good patter/AC handling. Might be similar if you tell him you've got a G1 helicopter. His contact info is on the internet.
