Aus Turbine Command Times
Long time listener, first time poster.
Referencing what’s available on airlinepilotcentral, are there similar figures accessible or are folks willing to share info regarding command times at Virgin, Jetstar and Qantas? Perhaps in tandem with projected retirements? I know the last may be a little harder to come by considering Aus doesn’t have the 65 rule like the majority of the world.
For context, have been flying overseas for a good 15 years. Thoroughly enjoyed my time abroad but if the correct opportunity were to present itself in the next little while, I would definitely consider coming back onshore for (hopefully) the final stint in my career.

Way to hard to predict at virgin…. Depends how many come back from the redundancy list. Won’t have a true indication till 2026.
many are passing up a return now, but may have designs on coming back 2025 ish.. as long as the spots are there which is the gamble…. I believe the last commands that went to FO upgrade rather than returning guys was about 12 years.

NJS going to do DEC’s shortly.
REX and Bonza would be very quick.
JQ you’ll get a good indication once todays FSO is allocated. Could go very junior.
Do network do DEC’s?
QF will go more junior than expected over the next 10 years due to retirements etc. will be interesting to watch.
Looked at cobham SAR?

JQ was around 7-9 years just prior to Covid
QF is 18-20 yrs SH and 24 yrs LH command, although that includes 9 years of no recruitment.

Appreciate the responses. Good to hear there'll be at least a little more movement for those who've stuck it out.
Won't be ruling anything out that's for sure! Just hoping to be able to make a move whenever I feel the time is right, on my own terms, a rarity indeed (global recession not forthcoming).
