Air NZ Second officer vs A320
Hi, just wondering if anyone in Air NZ jet could shed some light on average fortnightly pay checks, once on 4th year pay? Just an average over the last however many months, including allowances and incentive pay. I know it’s pretty different depending on the type of TODs you’re doing. Direct message me if you’re more comfortable. Thanks in advance
Can’t give an average fortnightly pay for 3 Fleet/Ranks, especially including allowances since they’re entirely Port/Meal specific thus dependant on how you bid.
However, assuming you have access to the Payscales as an internal, then the following is a rough guide:
F20 don’t expect much more than base pay. Some FO’s are getting decent IP, but it’s an outlier roster and not consistent. When IP gets up on the Bus, so does fatigue reports due to the short sectors.
S7, probably no IP at the moment. Fleets still being reactivated and lots of training for future Aircraft coming back so likely over crewed at the moment.
S8’s are probably doing 10-15% IP
Over the course of a few years, assuming no more 787 Engine issues or pandemics, Longhaul IP usually brings the SO Pay in line with F20 due to the differing natures of the jobs. For example, 3x LA returns is around 12-15 days on the Roster for 75hrs. That’s a lot of Wellington returns.
Most Longhaul Allowances come in foreign currency in an envelope at the hotel. If you don’t spend them you’ve gotta convert them to NZD which has a cost associated.
Many A320 allowances are paid through payroll in lieu of a meal break so that can inflate the fortnightly pay.
If you’re in the Links weighing up your fleet options, the moneys close enough that you should decide based on Lifestyle. Yes, there have been outlying times where a particular fleet is doing max hours for solid IP, but I wouldn’t make any decisions around it.

“Ixtra Pay”
Both.
For the time being, Regional Pilots can lodge standing bids for upcoming courses in the same manner current Jet Pilots can, so it’s more internal transfer than it is recruitment.
All Recruitment of new hires is into the Regional fleets.
