Fiji Airways.

I see that Fiji Airways is recruiting 737Max Captains on commuting contracts. Does anyone have first hand knowledge of the terms and conditions? Im particularly interested in whether or not one can work here on a rotational basis.

Yes you can, once training has finished.
Looking at blocks of 8 days off per mth, can add accrued AL to this if desired.

Yes, but!

The "contract" says that FJA will "endeavour" to roster 10 days in one block, but they have recently said that that's not going to happen. So 8 days it is.

You can add AL to that, but with only 24 days of leave, you'll end up working all 12 months pretty quickly. Maybe that's the plan?

No expat pay or conditions, other than a small and insufficient allowance for accommodation.

It said "1year renewable" contract. Is it too short for the job with this amount of money or it is norm here, and they will renew continuously. Please advise.

Tear a page out of Air Niugini ......

The pacific islands are working towards and have largely achieved a programme of National's first. Yes ... they must advertise simply to see what comes crawling out of the woodwork.

If you're not a Fijian national; forget it. The pay and conditions are very poor; but satisfactory for a local.

Now 10 day block off every month. Accommodation allowance is 2500 per month, which is enough for a new furnished apartment .Very friendly place to work. Conditions are on the agency sites and will improve in the next few months we are told. Per diems are ok. Some good overnights. PHNL etc on the Max. Pre Covid I worked for an Australian airline which paid more but I think once things settle down Fiji will end up a good job with good conditions.

Nadi - Honolulu on the Max? ouch. That is a bit excessive.

The local markets in Nadi or Lautoka will probably sell them cheaper, but if you really want to salary sacrifice for a regular supply I suggest you ask AF directly, maybe there is some tax benefit. Also you may find some at roadside stalls, cheaper still, they make a great curry.

737 roster and Fiji with family

I’m seriously considering a 737 CPT position with Nadi base as I would be bringing my family with me.

I’ve read everything written about Fiji Airways over the years but can’t seem to find any info on a typical 737 roster: How many flying days pr month, nightstops etc?

Do they have expats who have stayed for years (perhaps excluding Covid)? They seem to be recruiting quite often.

If I understand it correctly the income tax in Fiji is around 30%? Does anyone have an idea of an average net salary for a 737 CPT (do you fly more than 70 hours a month)?

Most importantly, has anyone brought their families there and settled with kids? That’s what we’re planning on doing. We have lived and worked on a tropical island before and have a pretty good idea on the ups and downs of island life - but it would be nice to hear from someone allready there.
