Smoke in Wagga today
I flew (almost) to Wagga this morning. Smoke got worse the closer I was. Heard two heavies do several missed approaches and I eventually turned around for home at 7 miles. Centre reported vertical vis at SWG less than 200’ at one stage.
the new tyres I was collecting just got dearer 😢

Fires will do that.
Best off driving instead.

You didn't check the TAF before you left?

yes, I did, junior. I don’t fly anywhere without checking the weather.
The GAF had 4000 m in isolated smoke and the TAF had prob 30 smoke 4000.
there were two heavies flying around above it trying to get in and it was no place for 75 year olds (AUSTER and me).

I can't argue with that. I miss flying an Auster, it's an honest aeroplane.
And here's me thinking this was a thread dealing with the Nats spill for Barnaby to get back in the saddle and get rid of Sic-Sac Mic Mac the useless for aviation miniscule like all the others.
Bugger !
