Forgive the semantics and I hope all are ok - but a 'ditching' implies some intent to put the plane into the water?

Underneath,
Yes, correct, when the end of the runway is the river there are no other options. Therefore the 'intent' was a good safe choice, well done pilot, (probably had no other options)

In the MoCA test ..., yes you all know what that is.... one of the questions is 'What day and date is it.?'

OP deduct five points from your cognitive marbles. CAsA will be interested.!

The Missions airstrip in Gunderman
How long has that strip been there ??
I've got no recollection of ever seeing it on charts,- or hearing anyone mention it.

See here. https://www.themissions1937.com.au/ Private strip, PPR. No requirement to be on charts. Notes on website Permission to land required!

Approaches are difficult! [email protected]?subject...-size:%2020px;

Do not attempt if inexperienced or unsure.

Main grass airstrip, 600 meters long,

Altitude 15' above sea level

Runway direction 13 / 31

Windsock at 300 meters on river side close to hangar

Please fly neighborly

RWY 31

Follow river and use curved approach for finals.

This avoids houses and trees opposite.

RWY 13

Follow contours of hills opposite and turn over caravan park to line up

last time I used it was about 30+ years ago. It was there well before that so I’m guessing in excess of 50years.

We would fly past it while covering the Bridge-to-Bridge boat and ski races in the 90s.
