Incident at Thistle Island

Rumour has it that a C210 was badly damaged at Thistle Island yesterday when a possum caused the U/C to collapse on taxying. Prop/engine doors etc all stuffed. No word on damage to possum though.

Possible stowaway affecting nosegear on landing Stowaway possums have occurred before on Thistle Island and Kangaroo Island also for that matter.

Poor bugger. It happens.

Somewhere in in the archives of the BBCis footage of me landing amd rolling out on a 210 and an agile wallaby trying to cut across in front and did its panic slide underneath behind the nose wheel.....

C210M - first registered in 1979. I think I first saw it sometime in the early 90's.

Probably referring to nose gear doors.

After a bit of an incident on Thistle we occaisionally used to get the sheep dog to assist with the daily inspection of the Barons wheel wells.
I remember going out to turn on the runway lights one night and there was a possum hanging around a Partenavia in the parking bay. When spooked it actually tried to jump into the left engine cowling.
It had the misfortune to land virtually at the feet of the dog.
