Hi Folks

Can anyone tell me what type of battery or set up (uninstalled of course) is best to power up my Garmin 430w to test it please?

Cheers

14 or 28 volts depending on the selected power. I believe each has its own + pin

Try static.garmin.com/pumac/1572_InstallationManual.pdf ... got all the details A 12v car battery should do it.
Note that the radio part of the device is a bit of a no-no without appropriate licences, aerials, cabling, connectors, etc.
