ASIC Clearance query

Hi All,

I am currently in the process of applying for a new ASIC. This will be the first time I am returning to flying in Australia after living in Abu Dhabi. Do you know if I will require a police check from Abu Dhabi and if so how do I go about this?

I have completed security clearance in Australia since returning from Abu Dhabi for other jobs and did not require a police clearance letter from Abu Dhabi but not sure if an ASIC will be different?

JRF2,
You will not require a foreign police clearance. The list of documents required to be provided for an ASIC application are provided with your application.
Information available here.

Unlike previously, you now need to present in person with your original ID docs for verification. Depending on whether you can get to the issuing body in person, you may also be slugged with an ID verification charge, particularly if you go through Australia Post.

I renewed my ASIC two months ago and I was required to submit police checks from my previous life as an expat. I think its periods of 6 months or longer within the previous 5 years but i may be wrong, whatever it is, If they are required it will clearly tell you during the online application (it did for me). I couldn't obtain one for a country due to restrictions on foreigners getting one so I just filled out a Stat dec (available online) with periods, employer names, the reason why i couldn't obtain one and that i didn't commit any crimes and it was suitable. .

interesting as there is no requirement within the legislation to provide such docs. I would be posing that question to the Department as this seems very much like an individual issuing body writing their own rules.
