STAGES OF MAINTENANCE

Can find no definition for the stages of maintenance as referred to in Schedule 6 of the CARs.

Anyone able to give precise legal definition to settle an argument?

Send CASA legal an email.

At our last visit, the AWIs took it as meaning any line item on the job sheet.

precise legal definition = What ever the AWI thinks it is.

Send CASA legal an email - The CAsA Legal Team are not there to answer your questions but to support the CAsA employees and make comment to support the AWI's stand point. A bit like rich drug dealers or mafia murderers get good legal advice (if they had enough money they would employ CAsA Legal Team).

If they say maintenance must be performed on a stage - best get the dimensions and build one (and ask if they have a preferred colour).

That isn't actually correct. Every email I have sent them over the last 12 months I have a response to each of the issues.

They must have a new policy.

Ask them where details of maintenance data need to be certified for - and in the work pack then just reference the work pack in the LBE is correct!

Fully supported by the CAsA Legal Team I was told.

Not exactly what the CAAP states, but would probably suffice.
I usually put the maintenance data on the log book entry as well, which covers those AWIs that have other ideas.

5 Stages of Maintenance

Denial - It doesn't need maintenance
Anger - It's a ***king design fault
Bargaining - Is there any way to fix it cheaper
Depression - This is so expensive
Acceptance - Pay up and get it done
